Vehicle Detail
Up for auction today we have a 1964 Chevy II Nova street machine. This car was built from the ground up years ago and ruled the streets around here for years! I bought it because I felt sorry for it and wanted it to be back on the road again. Let me explain...The car was, as I said, built years ago as a hot little street machine. It was completely disassembled and painted the metallic blue that you see, and a fiberglass hood and hood scoop were added at the same time as well as the custom hand painted pin stripes and the Mr. Horsepower bird on the fenders...yes, that is paint...NOT a decal! The car then had a complete tweed custom interior stitched up that included not only the seats but also the door panels, headliner, rear shelf, custom console and even the trunk was done in matching tweed with custom side panels! The previous owner then installed a nasty 327 with nitrous, a TH350 TCI transmission with a stall converter, hi-tork starter, Hooker Super Comp headers, stainless exhaust, Flowmaster stainless mufflers, Auto-meter Pro-Comp gauges, Lokar shifter, etc. The car was completely, professionally rewired with modern fuses and relays, new windshield, remote trans coolers, 4core radiator, rear mount battery, dual reservoir brake master, disc brakes and much more...no expense was spared. He drove it for several years until he finally blew up the engine, then lost interest and let it just sit outside his garage for 5 years or so where the paint oxidized, tires went flat and was forgotten. I hated to see it deteriorating because it really is built well, not a rusty rot box and is really cool! Thankfully, he covered the seats with blankets and, except for the carpet and trunk upholstery, the interior is in almost perfect condition. When I got it home, I went through the brake system and put a new master and wheel cylinders in and got the brakes working good, I removed the fuel tank and flushed the fuel system and then installed a 330 horsepower goodwrench crate 350 engine with nice vortec heads, HEI distributor, an edelbrock performer intake and 650 carb. and it now runs great, is really fast, the trans works great and has a performance shift feel. The previous owner completely went thru the front suspension shortly before he parked it with new ball joints, tie rod ends, and an aftermarket performance sway bar, but he said it "handled like crap" after he did that. Well, I find that the front components look like new but it is in need of a front end alignment. He said he never did one and its way off at the moment. So, THE BAD: It needs a front end alignment, the paint is oxidized but I think it would buff out really well, there was a dent that was repaired when it was painted between the right door and the rear wheel opening and the filler is failing, the fuel gauge is not working because the float failed, which I noticed when I had the fuel tank out, the tires are holding air but are not much, the chrome on the wheels have some pits, it could use some tail pipes as it is rather loud inside. THE GOOD: as you can see in the pix, the car is not a rotted out turd, the underside is actually really nice, the interior is great and very comfortable, it runs and is really fast and responsive, the wiring is great and everything works, except as noted, the glass is all intact, the car is all there and running driving, lots of nice, expensive parts, heat and noise insulation was added. I would like to keep the car, but I own 2 other shoe box Nova's and I need the room. I hope the car goes to someone who will appreciate it, and enjoy it. Thanks for looking...
