**Please read this auction description CAREFULLY--there will be a LOT of information contained within ** I am listing this on behalf of the current owners. 1979 AMC Spirit AMX 2-door hatchback. This vehicle has been with the current owners since September 1986, and current owner is the 3rd owner of the car. This car is a genuine Spirit AMX, not just a tarted up base Spirit It is an original H code 304 V8 car, but it has been upgraded to a 360 with a 727 automatic. This car runs like a scalded jackrabbit and it's a whole lot of fun. The 360/727 was installed about 16 years ago, but it doesn't have a whole lot of mileage on it. This car has been a lifelong Southern car, and as such has no rust or rot at all. I will try to list out the good and the bad about the car. The Good:*Genuine Spirit AMX*Original V8 automatic car*Professionally and completely rebuilt 360 V8 from a mid-70s Matador (built by AMC specialist George Doughtie)*727 Automatic transmission*3.15 Twin Grip AMC 20 rear end *New tires*New battery*New windshield*Edelbrock Performer intake with Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor*No rust, never wrecked*Good paint, reproduction hood and door decals*Disc brakes*Dual H-pipe exhaust*Tilt steering*Delay wipers*Factory AM/FM stereo radio*Electric rear hatch release*Griffin aluminum radiator*Completely painted and restriped with reproduction hood and door decals*All 4 original Turbocast wheels are in excellent condition with new lug nuts. All 4 center caps are included and in good condition. The Bad:*AC is inop (included is a new Sanden compressor with a genuine AMC Sanden compressor bracket from a later model Grand Wagoneer, along with a condenser with a new AC dryer)*Interior is complete but slightly sunburnt in places. The current seats are tan seats from a regular Spirit DL. These were installed as they were in better condition than the originals, but the original seats are intact and are included with the sale of the car. *The AMX specific body flares are included with the car, but they aren't in perfect condition. They could be used but would need some reconditioning before doing so. They weren't reinstalled on the car when it was painted because, honestly, the car looks better without them. *The tachometer works but it needs to be repaired*The speedometer reads about 10MPH too high--when the transmission was installed the speedometer gear didn't get corrected*The rubber door window runs are dry and brittle and need to be replaced*One of the tabs is loose on the rear window defroster---current working condition of rear defrost is unknown. This car has been garaged for years and hasn't been driven in cold or wet weather. *The car has never been wrecked, but the front fenders and hood were replaced after a tree limb fell across the front of the car and damaged the originals. The front bumper has been intentionally tucked in for a cleaner look. I've listed all the flaws I can think of at the moment. I might have forgotten one or two, but it's a pretty accurate description of the car overall. I will post a link to a lot of photos so you can look for yourself.
