Vehicle Detail
Very rare 1966 AMC Ambassador DiplomatThis is a wonderful car from southern California (now in N/W Indiana) and has a list of impressive features that include the factory 327 high compression 4 barrel V8 engine connected to the three speed Flash-O-Matic automatic transmission and a Twin-Grip limited slip differential. It features power steering, power brakes.. with factory discs up front.., air conditioning, power windows, tilt steering, reclining bucket seats, center console, AM/FM stereo, clock and more. The car starts first time every time and purrs like a kitten. The engine was professionally rebuilt at a local machine shop and runs flawlessly. The Flash-O-Matic trans shifts smooth and crisp. It will spin both back tires.. no problem. Motor trend tested the car in 1966 and stated that it -definitely had a snap we haven't felt before- and -healthy wheel spin from both rear wheels-. This car is really quick and I've left quite a few guys scratching their heads when I leave them at the light. To all the guys and gals out there that think the 327 was a Chevy first, In reality AMC had a 327 five years before GM did. The car isn't perfect and could use a little love but it is a very solid and complete car that is driven on a regular basis. This car draws a crowd everywhere it go's. Most people never even saw or heard of one and are blown away by all the features and performance of the car. It's not like one of the dozens of cookie cutter cars you see at every car show, it's different and people are really drawn to it. I have the title in hand and ready to go, the original owners manuals, a dealer promo Diplomat brass business card holder and a roll of vinyl to repair the drivers side seat back (has a small area that needs repaired). If you have any questions use the ask the seller a question feature and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank You On Aug-24-15 at 07:31:47 PDT, seller added the following information: Answers to frequent questions... The ac compressor turns on and spins freely with no noise when you turn on the ac, but I have never tried to charge it. It is still the R12 set up. The two power windows in front work, the two in back don't. The lighter works, the wipers work, the clock doesn't. The radio and speaker work but I can only get a few stations. The bower motor isn't working. I have never attempted to fix any of these items on the car, I just never got around to it, but the car has never been messed with or rigged in any way and all of these repairs should be simple and straight forward. The car starts and runs perfect. It has a brand new holly carb. It has never been wrecked. All of the body panels are original to the car. The doors, trunk and hood all open and close like new. There is no rust thru on the car. A couple of surface rust spots is all. The only trim missing is one letter D for the Ambassador on one side. I saw them for sale here on ebay. Yes I have a clean title in hand and ready to go. Thank you
