Vehicle Detail

I am looking to sell my 1987 Scirocco 16v. I purchased the car from a VW enthusiast in Milwaukee, WI in January 2014 and have not had time to work on. I would rather have it sold to someone with time and experience than let it sit and get worked on/driven here and there. I will state right off the bat that the car does have a rebuilt title. According to the person I bought it from, the car was owned by the same person for 17 years. Before that it was apparently in a minor fender bender or something and declared a rebuild. There is no accident reported on the VIN as far as I can find, but it was still declared a rebuild. It must have been a very small accident because I can find no evidence of an accident on the frame or anywhere else. The 17 year owner bought it, fixed it up, and repainted it. The paint is great from 10 feet, but has some issues on the hood when viewed closer. The car is RUST FREE. Even underneath is is extremely clean. NOTE: I do not have verification that the maintenance performed by the previous owner took place, this is just what was communicated to me.Here are the details:263,744 milesWater pump and timing belt replaced at 225,000 by previous owner.Head and valve stem seals replaced at 225,000b by previous owner (visible seals look clean and new)Close-ratio 5-speedTechtonics downpipe and 2.5" exhaust piping (no fart can, has a small muffler)Neuspeed front strut barRaceland coilovers (comes with spanner wrenches)15" BBS basket wheels w/ Yokohama S-Drive tires (look like maybe 50% life left?)Hardtop (no sunroof)Aftermarket CD head unit with some old aftermarket speakers (head unit needs to be mounted better.)Heat works. The car runs and shifts very well. I drove it from Milwaukee, WI to New Buffalo, MI (where it currently resides) without issue. That included driving in Chicago/the suburbs to get food and do some shopping on the way home. The interior is in decent shape, but the driver side front and rear seat have wear. The dash is very badly cracked. There is a somewhat noisy vibration when the car is running (only heard when in the car with the windows up) that seems to be caused by worn motor/transmission mounts. The car handles like it's on rails, but the coilovers are pretty harsh at their current setting. The car has been sitting for about 6 months with occasional starts and needs a battery, I believe that it would be best if the buyer brought a trailer or vehicle dolly. NOTE: THE CAR SHOULD BE CONSIDERED NON-RUNNING AND IS SOLD AS-IS. It may start and drive fine with a battery, but I cannot guarantee that it will drive properly after sitting with a dead battery.
