Vehicle Detail
We are the second owners. It has been a west coast car all its life, having been purchased by the first owner in Scottsdale. It now has just over 160k miles on it. If you don't know these cars, with this particular ZF transmission, it's not if, but when it will go out. Other cars whose trannies have not been touched will eventually need a rebuild at $3k to 5K. No accidents, but a tile blew off my roof during a storm and the sharp edge of the tile poked a hole through the hood near the drivers side cowl. It pierced through 2 of the 3 aluminum layers, about the size of a quarter. It was weld repaired by a United Airlines master mechanic without use of body filler...paint not perfect with various scrapes etc. accumulated over the years. Interior looks remarkably good for a 14 year old car. There are some niggly things that could use attention, like the power head rests not working on some seats, the fan for the HVAC is intermittent (not running now, but haven't checked why), and I think the right front headlight washer hose disconnected. I think all it will take is to remove the front bumper to reattach, as when I fill the washer tank fluid just pours out under the passenger headlight.. The one big issue is the left front catalytic converter is spent, so I can't pass smog in California. People in other states just remove them, or by a cheap after market replacement. Car has been very reliable. These are known to run as much as 300,000 miles with regular maintenance. Only selling because the last of my kids is off to college so it is an extra car. These cars are amazing cruising machines, and will get upwards of 26 mpg on the freeway (geared taller than other A8s). Great in the snow. I have the front license plate holders, plus the plug covers. They're shown in the trunk. California buyers note that I have to sell it as non-op because it cannot be smogged as is. Please ask all questions. Car is located in SF Bay Area, close to SFO. Buyer arranges for shipping. Will assist getting it on trailer, or it can be driven. On Aug-15-15 at 12:06:08 PDT, seller added the following information: Just cleaned out the center drain under the HVAC blower (which was plugged and retaining water). HVAC blower is working again.
