1968 Volvo 1800S Some history on the car ... 1968 Volvo 1800S, almost fully restored in 2005/2006, I purchased it on eBay in 2004 as a donor car for my '73 1800ES, as it came with some parts I could use, but after some thought I figured it would be a shame to do that, as I figured the car had still some life in it. Started restoring it in the spring of 2005, and the restoration was completed in winter 2005/2006. I have a web site (https://www.flickr.com/photos/58609033@N05/albums) with a few hundred images of the various stages that it went through, from media blasting to paint and re-assembly. There were over 300 hours of labor put in it, and a few thousand dollars worth of all new parts (springs, shocks, sway bars, bushings, etc.) purchased from IDP, Skandix, and Vintage Import Parts. The car spent the next winter and most of the following summer at the shop where it was restored. Drove it home (about 50+ miles) in late summer 2006, and has been sitting in my garage since, except for a few rides around the city (Vintage Volvo meets). I have put around 100 miles on it max. I would say it is about 90% restored, give or take. This is what's left to be finished as far as I can see: 1. putting in the door panels (new or reupholstered), and a new headliner (have the old one, but not sure that it can be reused); 2. connect the 5th gear wire to switch on steering column (currently not there); 3. tune carburettor/engine to make it start easier, car is currently equipped with a Weber carb.; 4. some electrical tweaks - blinkers are not blinking, have to turn on/off manually to simulate it; 5. car has an A/C (not tested) which needs to be installed, I have only put in the radiator; 6. needs new wind shield liquid holder and wiper blades. 7. I like the way the car looks without bumpers, so I have not put those on, however I do have them, PLUS ALL THE OTHER PARTS THAT THE CAR CAME WITH. There may be a few minor things that someone may think of, but I think this is the major stuff. Not sure if I would consider this a "show car", but it could be an excellent daily driver, or for your weekend trips down some twisty roads. There is a little crack in the clear coat, see picture. Not sure how or when it happened, does not seem to be deep, so it could be easily repaired (buffed out?). My interests have shifted in other directions, so I am very interested in selling this, but not to the point of giving it away! All reasonable offers will be considered! TERMS AND CONDITIONS1.
