Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1961 SO-23 Westfalia Camper Bus. This bus has had the same owner since 1987 and he has done a complete restoration on it and finished that in 1995, Painted it yellow. He was a fix it all type of guy who new how to make things work well but this was before all of the parts for restoration were available like they are today. He has a machine shop make exact matching cargo floor pans to replace the cargo floors, he used better then factory metal to create his own cross members, he added dynamating throughout the bus to make it drive so much quieter, he added an extra battery so you can actually camp in this bus and not have to worry about running out of power, Added chrome Wolfgang's Safari Windows, He restored all of the wood as close to back to original as he could (it looks amazing), He found a stereo that fit the factory hole so he wouldn't have to cut the dash, he added a center light just above the table, added two different 12 v cigaret lighters so he would have power to charge stuff in front and in back, he replaced the front interior so that it didn't feel like a company service vehicle with the new interior, refurbished door panels, and he bought a new tent that had never been set up till I did it. He couldn't stand not knowing what the engine was doing so he added a volt meter, a oil pressure gauge, an oil temp gauge and a tachometer. To say that he has fixed this bus up to be a one of a kind camper with a few extras might be an understatement. I purchased this bus from him and took care of some areas from the restoration that were showing some where because of the age of the restoration, added new gaskets, had the motor completely serviced top to bottom, and most importantly brought the bus back to its original color, added the factory second rear view mirror, and I am still looking for a gas heater (like it originally came with) but haven't located one yet. If you don't like the wheels I have a newly coated set of powder coated 14" wheels and hubcaps that I will put on instead of the wide 5/5 spoke ones that are on it right now, no extra charge I will just let you have what ever ones that you want. This is a killer bus that I have done a preservation paint job on, it is not perfect but really really nice. Please look at the videos on YouTube and ask any questions that you may have. Email and phone are both fine but please no tire kickers just serious buyers. This is one of if not the best SO-23 bus that I have seen come up for sale in about 6 months and if you are looking for one, this is a good one. Here are some short videos that I shot of the bus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ylf59RRDkLg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdiGPa-aVaI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LD8q75muwHY Cecil On Jun-08-15 at 22:10:19 PDT, seller added the following information: A few have asked and I would perfer that anyone who wants this bus come and see it, drive it and look it over. Its not perfect but looks super good. The color of the bus is Ceiling Wax Red and Biege Gray but looks a little more normal red in some light. i tried to post as many pictures as possible. Need any other questions answered please ask. The buyer is responsible to handle all shipping. This bus is being sold as is with a clear title and no warranty. The bus is also listed on The Samba and other sites so it could sell before the auction ends. Good luck and happy bidding.
