Vehicle Detail
This was my deceased husband's track car. It is street legal. My husband loved this car. It has been sitting in my garage since he passed in 2010. He was in the process of starting body work when he passed. In 2013, I towed it to the mechanic (I was afraid to drive it after fishtailing). The mechanic gave me the following descriptives: -1973 Porsche 914 conversion -Chevy 350 stroker with rebuilt Porsche 930 Transmission -High rise intake with holly carb 750 -Electric fuel pump -MSD ignition system -Borla exhaust -Slotted disc brakes with dual piston caliper -New Fisk rims & new tires -Porsche 930 transmission -All braided lines -racing seat w/3 point harness -new brakes -461 miles -roll cage I know that the rims alone cost $6k and that much love and care went into getting this beast track ready. The personalized plate on the car reads 5POINT8. I believe this refers to the engine size. The mechanic said he had many people stopping in to see the car when it was at his shop. I wasn't ready to part with it then. It is certainly a head-turner (and very loud). On Jun-01-15 at 15:04:13 PDT, seller added the following information: 6/1/15: I've posted pictures based on many requests to https://914pictures.shutterfly.com/pictures. I hope the pictures are helpful. I can take more if they are needed. I found some photos taken as the car was being transformed. The pictures look to be from 2003-2005 (the pictures are dated). I thought they might be helpful in identifying some of the components that went into the car. I've had many requests for a fixed price for this car. I am going to stick with the auction format because I do not know the true value of the car. The car will go to the winner of the auction (assuming the reserve is met). On Jun-02-15 at 15:01:10 PDT, seller added the following information: 6/2/15: As a result of posting this car for sale, I met a very kind neighbor who offered to come to my house and look at/help with the car and my posting. He belongs to a 914 club and previously owned a converted 914. He showed up this morning with oil, tools, jumper cables, and a trickle charger...what a great guy! This is what I learned today:any rust is surface rustit has forged aluminum roller rockersit has a welded in roll cagethe headlights and signals are functioningthe wipers are not functioningthe cap that is missing is a radiator overflow capHe said to mention that the longs are not visible (whatever covers them is riveted on) The stack of old receipts may be useful to the new owner. I will put them in the trunk of the car.The extra parts may also be useful to the new owner. I will take pictures of the parts and post them to http://914pictures.shutterfly.com tomorrow. My neighbor found Michael's original postings to 914world.com. His user name was MikeP. The only way I could find his Blog was to create a user name, search for him, then click on his blog. The blog postings are from 2005 when he added the flares, new rims/tires, brakes, motor and transmission. The blog site is http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?automodule=blog&blogid=309&, but I don't think you can access it without becoming a member of the site. My neighbor took a few pictures for me to post to http://914pictures.shutterfly.com. These pictures show common rust areas (behind the drivers seat and the battery area). I've also posted a video I took this morning of the battery area. We ran out of time before we could get the battery charged and start the car. He is coming back tomorrow morning, work allowing, and we will take a video of the car running then. It should be posted to the Shutterfly site sometime tomorrow afternoon along with pictures of the extra parts and any other requests I receive we take pictures. I've come across some very nice people in the 914 community since positing this car for sale. I do hope that this car ends up with a special person in the 914 community who will love and appreciate it as much as Michael did. On Jun-04-15 at 13:07:28 PDT, seller added the following information: 6/3/15: Our neighbor came back and took the car for a short drive (about 15 minutes I would guess). I've posted three new videos to http://914pictures.shutterfly.com if you'd like to see/hear the car running. I've also added pictures of the accessory parts I'll send with the car. Here are a few comments from our neighbor that I thought might be helpful to any interested buyers: It was only driven a short distance and the temperature went up to 215-220 degrees. Whomever purchases the car needs to go through the cooling system. The fan(s) is/are working. It needs a tune up. It is misfiring. It could be due to old fuel.It shifts well.It is at 2000 RPM @ 65 mph.It has a really tall 4th gear.It is a cable shifter. It has lots of torque. It has two oil gauges. Only one is hooked up.The squeaky noise you may hear happens when the clutch is not pushed in.It has a plexiglass rear window. The stain under the car in our garage is not oil, but brake fluid.CA Registration and insurance are current. Thanks again to our wonderful neighbor! Reminder: This car is being sold AS IS. There are no warranties expressed or implied. I am providing as much information as I have available to me as it is made available. I am not a car person and most of this is foreign to me. I wish I had the knowledge, passion, and funds to keep and enjoy the car!
