As Ronnie and the Daytonas sang "Little GTO you're really lookin fine..." This is the car that started the muscle car craze! A beautiful Le Mans GTO. She is fast and fun! The original 389 engine and transmission are long gone. They were probably victims of the 60's stop light wars! (So this is not a numbers matching car) Better yet, this is an updated version with all of the modern conveniences of a computerized, fuel injected modern power plant mated to a modern "overdrive" transmission, modern four wheel disk brakes, air conditioning, 17 inch wheels with radial tires and a power convertible top. She is a joy to own and drive. You can drive her without any compromises. Unlike most muscle cars that are "temperamental", she is a easy to drive. Just get in and go like any modern car; except you'll get thumbs up everywhere you go. All of the fun of a 1965 GTO with out any of the carbureted, battery draining, hard to stop drama of the old drive train! Just put the automatic top down and cruise. It puts a smile on my face every time! On those hot afternoons when you want to stay out of the sun, just leave the top up and put on the air conditioning. You'll be cool and calm. And there's nothing better than putting the top down on a cool spring night and turning on the heater to keep you toasty warm. If the weather changes or you just want some privacy just push the switch and the electric top closes right up. Easy breezy. I know the difference because I've owned 9 classics over the years and this GTO is by far the most fun because everything works better than the original. Of course, there's a reason that every car on the road since 1986 has been fuel injected. Its simply better in every way. (response, power, MPG and maintenance)She now has a professionally installed LS-1 mated to a GM 4L60e Four Speed transmission with Over-drive. She starts first time every time because she is fuel injected. She cruises effortlessly on the freeway and I get 15 MPG around town and 25+ MPG on the Highway. Since she weighs less than 3575 pounds now, due to updated engine, transmission and lighter wheels etc., she handles beautifully.An added bonus of the modern power plant is that I can let the Valet Attendants park it without fear of flooding it and killing the battery. Its always nice to have “no worries” if they want to take it to the parking garage. (Don’t minimize this benefit.
