Vehicle Detail

I am typing this at midnight, for some people that is not late. For me of the past it wasn’t late, but once you have a corporate job and meetings to be at early in the morning on the other side of a city built on bad traffic (too many people live on the planet) midnight gets to be late. I noticed there are a fair amount of 93+ MR2’s on EBAY right now, which is rare considering how many more 91&92 MR2’s were made than the subsequent 93’+ cars. Hell the white 95’ MR2 that is for sale @ $8500 buy it now is a good deal someone needs to buy that thing, those are rare as shit. And I’m pretty sure I’m going down in ebay history for giving props to a total stranger’s auction when I’m trying to compete against them in the marketplace. But hey, if it’s true it’s true, my desires and feelings don’t change that one bit. Almost as good of a deal as this car. I run a shelter for rare jap cars sold between 1982 & 1999 (in America at least). By that I mean those were the years worth a damn, and yes I’m sure there was some before and after that were special but this was the heart of their march for dominance and 1999 was the last year they sold anything in America with a soul (cars have souls btw). Yeah I’m one of those people that names inanimate objects (I know a mini stuffed giraffe named Powell). I believe these facts so much that I purposely try to find these cars that still have souls, type up a mild essay for each one, and authenticate them on the internet with all the real details. Right down to the button that sort of sticks (no this car doesn’t have any sticky buttons if that is a turn off for you). THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION. Whatever it ends at it sells for and I don’t really care what that number is so long as you believe in what I believe in. Also once the 25 year rule crosses and we can import these cars legally from Japan (we are up to 1990 so far) the USDM versions will still be the rarest technically. To us JDM or EUDM cars are rare, but in actuality due to the USA unique laws and marketplace (largest auto industry in the world because we have the greatest interstate network on this planet) the USA cars are the rarest. Every other country in the world can get the JDM spec cars for the most part, only in the US do you get the left hand drive USA versions. So you know what screw the JDM stuff, our USDM cars are the rarest and let’s be happy we have them here, we can also get a million V8’s and were not taxed on our engine displacement. So let’s all toast the 600+ cu in. monsters that literally pound pavement and enjoy our USDM cars while the rest of the world has to shift to 1st gear by pushing away from their body instead of pulling in towards. That being said this car is a 93’, so it has the much better revised 5S-FE that doesn’t have the sludge problems etc… and it has the revised suspension so it doesn’t snap oversteer you to your death. It has the better wheels, the better front bumper lip, and a host of other changes. While not quite as cool as the 94-95 cars it also doesn’t come with that price tag but does come with the same mechanical platform. Without further delay here are the details. Exterior: It is red. This was the most common color for MR2’s because lets face it they were basically marketed as a reliable Ferrari……….that has a camry engine in the non-turbo sense. What that means for you is with commonly had camry parts your car is easy to maintain. But it looks friggin sweet. The paint still shines as you can see, the left fender might have been painted at some point but the rest is all original. It has a turbo engine lid for some reason, I guess someone thought that looked cool. The front bumper lip is in almost perfect condition, clear coat is faded and missing in some spots on roof which is common for any car this old that has actually been driven but it still looks great just with a buff. All the lights, mirrors, wipers, etc… work perfectly. The trunk worked great a week ago, now it doesn’t want to release with the latch, easy locksmith fix, I think something got shut in their wrong, I promise it is not a Canadian Goose. Everything else works like new. It does have one nickel size rust bubble on the trunk lid, that is it, no rust anywhere else and that can be corrected easily, plus it’s a bolt on trunk not a body panel. Passenger side T-top needs an adjustable cam spacer to prevent leaks which is cheap and easy. Pictures describe this category for me, no wrecks to my knowledge. Interior: Couldn’t tell you why Toyota went with the blue/black thing, like pick a color (preferably black) and go with it. The only thing the interior needs is a new shift boot. It is worn out, luckily they are *gasp* $11 on ebay for an Italian leather OEM copy. How will you ever afford that….. It has some speakers behind the seats, the cd-player works, everything works, heat works great. A/C needs the belt tensioner fixed (cheap camry part) and the belt put back on (uber cheap belt is in the car), previous owner took it off because they couldn’t get it to stop squeaking, because the tensioner was done. All the lights switches etc all work, gauges, power windows, power locks, all of it. Comfortable car, I’m 6’6” and it has plenty of room with a good layout. Mechanical: Tracks straight, no vibrations, no pops, no squeaks, no rattles. Gas pedal is stiffer than a normal car due to the length of the cable, which has been lubricated. Brakes are good, tires are brand new and staggered properly, alignment just done, just had an oil change, timing belt is ok, clutch is good, never overheats, no knocking, no valve noise, no smoking, no leaks. It has a small (like real small) crack in one of the header pipes that you can’t even here but I figured I’d mention it. Exhaust is the stock muffler to keep it quiet, engine sounds pretty decent actually, good noises. Engine bay is dirty, I’ll be honest I just haven’t had time to take it by a pressure washer and no I don’t know who tried to paint the valve cover red IT WASN’T ME. I’ll take credit for a lot of things I didn’t do but not that. Trans shifts smooth into all gears, battery is newish, starts right up every time. Cruise control works great, car cruises at 80mph no issues. All in all you can feel free to drive it for another 100k miles or however long the Toyota gods deem you worthy. That’s about it, thanks for looking and good luck bidding, feel free to shoot any questions my way that I did not already answer! Car has a clean title and just needs a like minded shelter.
