Vehicle Detail

1961 Chrysler Newport with 40,000 original miles. Immaculate near perfect original interior with no stains or rips. The original special ordered star-pattern seat covers still cover the back seat. (the top of the plastic seat cover has deteriorated but the actual seat is fine). Sun visors have original plastic as well. The dash and headliner are beautiful. The steering wheel and all the buttons are in amazing condition. Original Chrysler rear floor mat remains in great condition. All the trim shines beautifully as well. The interior immaculate. The body is rock solid and straight. Solid floors, a repairable hole in the trunk floor; 99% of the original sheet metal is free of any rot. There is a small dent on the passenger side, rear fender well toward the front of the car (see picture). All the exterior chrome and trim is also in excellent condition. It looks like at some point parts of the car were painted, but it's mostly original paint. decent tires upgraded to radials with original hubcaps. This car is a time capsule that has been in an indoor, dry storage for many years. I purchased it from the second owner. The car needs to be "gone through" mechanically. It sat so long assume it needs all the basics. The engine is free and turns over and I got it to fire up , but it backfired (very loud) out of the carburetor. Since then I've been unable to get it running and don't have the time to tinker with it. Previous owner tells me the car has a 413 cu motor with a two barrell carburetor, whic is rare. If you know how to verify the engine code please let me know, because I am not sure. The previous owner told me the valve head covers should be taken off to see if a valve is stuck. You are more than welcome to have the car inspected prior to bidding. I haven't changed the plugs or oil, cap, etc. A portable gas tank is hooked up because it's safe to assume the gas in the tank is bad. Also the noticed a small leak in the gas tank also. Brakes will also need to be overhauled. Overall, this a car well worth putting some time into, I just don't have the time to do it. Very low reserve
