I don't have the means to make the needed repairs for this car to run the way it could, and am hoping that someone else will be able to use it. I drove it from rural Oregon to Chicago and it was a champ, averaging 38 mpg through mountains, coast and plains. Living in the city, though, the manual transmission resented stop-and-go, and there's been an issue between the gearbox and clutch that wears the clutch down. I had it replaced last spring, and it appears to need replacing again, along with the gearbox possibly needing to be replaced. This is really a better car for a rural dweller who likes to take occasional road trips and commutes, than a city dweller stopping every half mile. It's great on the road, gets good mileage, and handles very well. The clutch cable was replaced, a new battery and alternator were installed, and a new air filter put in last summer. Needs new engine mounts; at about 75 mph the engine shakes a bit. The steering column is also in need of replacing, but it is still usable and drivable. Car comes with a spare tire, snow chains, additional glow plugs, a user manual and repair manual. Because my folks are moving, it can't stay in rural Illinois past 5/31/15, so it will be junked by then if so. A tragedy! Save this sweet little car from the junkyard.
