Vehicle Detail
Chassis: BN4L-0-38761Body: 3733-3168Engine: 29D/RU/H5158 (2912cc - 124bhp@4,600rpm)Transmission: 4-speed manual with overdriveOne of 329 first-year 100-6 Abingdon built cars and 4,241 built in all This car is recently from an ownership of 30+ years and comes with a 29D engine and 4-speed gearbox with factory overdrive. Panel fit is very good and rust is an absolute minimum for a project Healey. Soft materials have worn considerably over the cars' life in the desert, though the majority of original material is still in place. The body is very straight with excellent gaps and impeccable and unmolested panel and grille fit. The cabin and trunk floors are also remarkably solid. A BMC heritage certificate is available with this car's sale.Originally Healey Blue, this car received at least one repaint to the duo-tone Ivory white over Colorado red as seen now (factory cars with this combination were rare but available). The engine will require a rebuild, but as it sits it turns freely by hand. The 6-port engine is a vast improvement over the 1C-H -- with HD6 carbs and producing 124 bhp and 167 lbs/torque at a low 2,700rpm. This car has an original overdrive unit (note the "-O-" in the chassis number). Disc brakes were not a listed option until 1959 and were fitted to this car by previous owner - a desirable upgrade to stock performance.Classic Investments of Colorado specialises in the sale, service and complete in-house restoration of vintage European sports cars and many others. The BMC Heritage Certificate does not list the plant of manufacture. Based on build date and body sequence numbers, a Longbridge build fits historical information and is generally more likely.
