Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a classic 1980 Mercury Zephyr. As you look at the pictures you'll enjoy the relatively good condition of this car too ugly to hate! I'll give the car one week...if she can't sell, I'll drive her to the crusher. She's no Mustang or Camaro, but it DRIVES nicely. It's got the little 2.3L 4 cyl with a 4 spd manual. The Good: Nice clean interior with no rips or tears. Headliner like new. has a $300 stereo inside with remote, hookups for USB and Iphone. Heater works, rear defog works fair, brakes good, rust is mostly surface, the only rust through is the trunk lip. Carpet sun faded over tranny hump. Pics show the rockers are good, vinyl top is like-new...NO rust bubbles...feels and looks great. The car has A/C option, but the belts aren't connected. Lights all work. Has cruise control option but there's some damage on the steering wheel, I haven't tried to use it. The biggest problem with this car is reverse. Something keeps it from staying in reverse, so I have to hold it in place and baby the car backing up. The rest of the transmission works just fine...so long as you don't have to back uphill, you can use the car as a driver. It's funny trying to park at the store so you can just pull right out, or back up downhill, haha. I have been driving this car daily. Tires are fair..I wouldn't drive cross country on them. There's a little chatter in steering, likely a tie rod end needing replaced..but I have no trouble at all driving around town. I have driven highway speeds for about ten miles, and it moved right along. This car is a great find for an affectionado who'd like to pick up a spare car for parts...or someone looking for CHEAP transportation. I'm happy to answer any other questions or take pics for you. I think the pics already posted give a clear pic of what you're buying. Thanks for looking!
