Vehicle Detail
Welcome. Up for sale is a 1978 GMC Sierra Classic C2500 (3/4 ton, heavy duty) with the Camper Special package. Two wheel drive. 454/7.4 liter BIG BLOCK V8. Turbo 400 3 speed automatic transmission. Actual mileage of 152,762 miles. These GM trucks are getting harder and harder to find, especially in this condition and optioned as heavily as this one is. This truck is an excellent investment for any classic vehicle collector. In addition, this truck comes with extensive documentation, including the original bill of sale, service records etc. This was a one-owner truck until last year when the current owner purchased it. This truck spent nearly all its’ life in Maryland (purchased new and registered in Baltimore), which helps explain why it is solid and is still on the road today. How many do you see still in existence? Although the pictures were taken at a dealership, this truck is privately owned by a coworker/friend of mine and being sold private party. Local bidders are welcome to view and inspect the truck in person, please just email me to coordinate an appointment. Again, this truck is for sale by owner, not dealer. The PA title is clear and in hand. The truck has a current PA inspection good until August of 2015. However, due to the age and mileage of this truck, it is being sold as-is, where-is, with no warranties expressed, guaranteed, or implied, as is standard with any classic vehicle. Mechanical: This truck has been driven on occasion over the past year and runs well and is quite dependable. The engine is original and almost forty years old, so it does leak some oil and have some rocker noise that quiets once running for approximately 15 minutes. The truck is a great driver. The air conditioning is not hooked up or operational at this time, but the compressor is included. Exterior/Body: The original body is very solid, especially for a 1978 GM truck, but there is some rust in the inner rear wells, bed floor, and braces. Please email me for dozens of additional photos of the truck inside, outside, and underneath, if needed. I can also send photos of the truck on a lift or feel free to come see the truck for yourself... you will not be disappointed. The heavy duty frame is solid. Again, the truck is very solid, but it is not rust free. Again, some rust repair is needed to the rear wheel wells, bed floor, and bed braces. I have the name and number of an outstanding local bodyman who will be glad to fix the noted areas at a fair cost. Such work will be at the winning bidders expense, if desired. Interior: As with the exterior, the interior shows only minor wear for a nearly forty year old classic truck. I did not note any rips or damage to the seats. There is some cracking and discoloring to be expected from age and use. A fresh cleaning with proper cleaner would do them good. I tried all power equipment, windows, locks, etc., and all works well as of now, but any needed work to such equipment is not covered in any way and will fully be the buyer's responsibility. At least it is not computerized and all is a pretty easy fix for any DIY car enthusiast! Please be aware that if you elect to drive the truck rather than trailer or ship it, it is solely at your risk, as I have been upfront in the needed repairs and cannot guarantee the current driveability/safety of a truck this age, especially on a long trip. Pros: Excellent original condition for age. Low mileage for year. Hard to find. Extensive documentation. Enjoy as-is or restore to show condition...the choice is yours. Cons: Please be aware that this GMC needs some repairs due to rust in the rear wheel wells, bed floor, bed braces as indicated earlier in the listing. THIS IS A NO RESERVE LISTING, SO I AM MOTIVATED TO SELL THE TRUCK. PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE BEFORE BIDDING. ALL LOCAL INTERESTED PARTIES ARE ENCOURAGED TO COME VIEW AND DRIVE THE TRUCK IN PERSON BEFORE BIDDING, BUT I HAVE BEEN UPFRONT IN ALL PROS AND CONS OF THIS SIERRA, SO BID WITH CONFIDENCE. PLEASE SEE THE PAYMENT TERMS AND SHIPPING TAB FOR POLICIES REGARDING PAYMENT AND DELIVERY OF THIS TRUCK. A $500 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT VIA PAYPAL IS DUE WITHIN 48 HOURS OF THE CLOSE OF AUCTION, AND FULL PAYMENT IS DUE WITHIN FOURTEEN BUSINESS DAYS OF THE CLOSE OF THE AUCTION. PLEASE SEE THE PAYMENT TAB FOR ALL ACCEPTED METHODS. I DO NOT ACCEPT PAYMENT BY CREDIT CARD OR THIRD PARTY CHECKS, NO EXCEPTIONS. CASH OR WIRE TRANSFER IS PREFERRED. PERSONAL CHECKS MUST CLEAR MY BANK BEFORE THE TRUCK OR TITLE IS RELEASED. LOCAL PICKUP IS RECOMMENDED, BUT SHIPPING ARRANGED AT THE BUYER'S TIME, EXPENSE, AND RISK IS ACCEPTABLE ONCE FULL PAYMENT HAS BEEN MADE. THE TRUCK WILL NOT LEAVE MY PROPERTY UNTIL ALL NECESSARY PAPERWORK HAS BEEN SIGNED AND FULL PAYMENT MADE. THE BUYER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL APPLICABLE STATE SALES TAX AND FEES. PLEASE E-MAIL ME VIA EBAY MESSAGES WITH ANY QUESTIONS OR REQUESTS TO VIEW AND DRIVE THE TRUCK, AND I'LL BE GLAD TO ACCOMMODATE YOU. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST! BID NOW BEFORE ITS' GONE! NO RESERVE!
