Vehicle Detail

Original and Authentic 1967 Golf Blue Porsche 912 An incredible opportunity to own a classic and very original short wheelbase air-cooled Porsche 912. This car is being presented at it has been driven for the last 8 years. I have not had the car detailed or painted or any touch ups. All pictures are current. I literally washed the car and vacuumed it. Vin #: 458172 Engine #: 750152 The engine was rebuilt by the late great Harry Pellow aka "The Maestro" - HCP Research All serial numbers place this as a 1966 produced "1967 Karmann Karosserie 912 Coupe." You can see a breakdown of serial numbers at the 912 Registry: 912registry.org/restore/vin GOLF Blue - Color Code 6603 Authentic 6x15 Fuchs that were refinished 8 years ago and are in fantastic shape. These are not the cheap reproductions that are rather rampant on E-BAY. These aren't period correct per se as these would be found on a later 60s or early 70s 911. They look beautiful and give the car a nice stance. 15 1/2J X 15 Steel Spare Wheel. Super Super Super RARE Original 1967 Momo 'Real Wheel' at 380mm diameter. Flat spoke all black. Leather is beautiful. This IS NOT one the passed around cars with all the original pieces taken out and cheap cosmetic work done to make it appear authentic. There are many of these cars popping up on E-Bay. This is a very authentic car that is a candidate for a true restoration. Title is clear and in my name. I've owned this car since February of 2007. I purchased the car in Southern California and drove it to San Francisco. The car has been continuously registered and driven since. I purchased the 6x15 Fuchs wheels when I purchased the car. They were freshly refinished and still look gorgeous with no road/curb rash. I paid $1500 for them (8 years ago) and the prices continue to soar. Car has been driven daily and never sat long periods without being driven. I have made no modifications to this car. I had the Fuchs installed, installed the drivers side mirror (Durant Replica) and had a CD Player with Ipod attachment installed in the glove box (works perfectly. There are two speakers installed up front near driver and passenger seats. I have all service records dating back to when I first purchased the car in 2007. I also have the print sheets for engine rebuild that were given to me when I purchased the car. No AC :) but heater blows hot. The drivers' side window is off track and needs to be repaired. All other windows are fully function including rear windows. Car is straight and never been involved in any collisions. I do not own a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche. The winning bidder is welcome to pay Porsche $110 if they are so inclined. All numbers are year correct for chassis and engine per the Porsche 912 Registry. Recent Work: The car had a major 6k Tune up in early November 2014 and is running flawlessly. The engine was rebuilt by the late great Harry Pellow. He is known as the "MAESTRO" and has written definitive books on the 356 and 912 engines. This is the most reliable engine I've ever owned. I purchased the car in 2007 and was told the engine had only had approximately 15,000 miles since the rebuild. I have put on approximately an additional 30,000 miles. The car drives with excellent power through all gears and has no trouble traversing the steep hills in San Francisco. Smooth shifting through all gears. Engine sounds fantastic. Car does not smoke or leak oil. The car will leave an oil drip if parked in the same place day after day which I believe is totally standard. I have never tinkered with this car. All work has been done by Bauer Porsche in Oakland and The Stable in San Francisco. The only engine/mechanical failure I have ever had with this car was a failing generator which was repaired. Engine has never let me down. What this car needs: Speedometer needle fell and needs to be rebuilt. Car needs new tires. Interior is well worn but original. Front seats need at minimal to be recovered. I had them recovered and stuffed when I purchased the car. Front dash needs recovered. Original VDO Clock is not operating. It has never been operational and I never tried to have it repaired. Original in dash Blaupunkt radio is not operating but I have never had it examined. Drivers side window is off track. Interior door panels need a little work. The white headliner is in great condition with no rips. It does have some discoloration that could be repaired using vinyl dye. Body Work Needed: This car needs the front pan repaired. I was preparing to start this process but rather than beginning a restoration I am offering it for sale here. There is rust near the drivers side where the suspension meets. This is a standard need for these cars. This needs immediate attention. Parts are cheap (a few hundred) but unless you are an accomplished welder you will need a legitimate body shop to perform the repair. The front bumper and hood also need attention. The hood was touched up prior to my owning the car. Recently a car backed up onto the hood and there are some dents that could easily be corrected. Trunk still opens and closes fine. Prior to owning the car, a piece of the drivers side floor was replaced. On the drivers side exterior there is a paint chip and a little cracking above the rear wheel. Rear hood has two spots of surface bubbling just below the rear window. Overall the paint is presentable. When I purchased the car in 2007 I was told the car had one respray and still had a lot of original paint. The body needs the work I have cited bus is in overall excellent condition. The gaps are very nice and doors open and close perfectly. Buyer is responsible for local pick-up. The car is located in San Francisco. Please ask all questions prior to bidding. On Mar-07-15 at 16:44:57 PST, seller added the following information: Hello, I have many requests for additional pictures of the car floor pans and trunk. I have uploaded a couple hundred more photographs on photobucket. I also uploaded a video of me starting the car and driving off. I have taken as many photos as I could of any issue areas of the car.
