Vehicle Detail
Thanks for viewing this listing. Available is an extremely nice 1989 Cartier Town Car. This was the top of the line Town Car for the year. Distinguished by it's unique two tone paint treatment, the car remains an excellent example of the final year of this body style. The car has all the Lincoln comfort items. Everything works as it should. The car drives smooth and quiet. The car was owned by a gentleman that was in the automobile mechanical repair business. He bought the car in 1998 with mileage in the 30's. It was his wife's car. They kept it inside clean and dry since. In fact the car was driven less than 200 miles in the past year. He was selling several cars he no longer wanted. This Lincoln was one of them. Since my purchase, I've had the radio rebuilt to factory specs by a Ford radio repair expert. It functions as new. Four new tires were installed. It has fresh oil, new filters, and new belts. Anti freeze is new as well as the exhaust. The interior is in excellent condition. No tears in the cloth or leather. Carpets are clean. Floor mats are new. Headliner is perfect. All lights, switches, locks, and windows work fine. Car has the electronic dash and Fords trip computer system. All operate as new. Has the headlight dimmer system, the autolamp system, the touch pad lock and unlock system, and the automatic trunk lid pull down. All work perfectly. I will say the auto headlight system is very sensitive. I've had other Town Cars, and this is very common. Exterior of the car is very nice as the pictures indicate. No major flaws are visible, but do not expect a flawless car. Car does have some stone chips and other minor flaws. There is no rust on the body. The underside is very nice as well with some scaling of the unprotected components. The chrome and stainless trim are exceptionally nice. The rear bumpers on these cars were a problem. This one is very nice. There are some scratches on the inside of the windshield and the back glass. This was caused by diamond ring scratching the glass as it was being cleaned. Somewhat noticeable but easy to explain. The wheels are in good condition as well. No vibrations at speed. Brakes stop straight and true. I've made sure that all of the trouble spots on these cars are shown. The glove box door is very good. No cracking on either front armrest. Paint on the hood and trunk are great. The top is above average as well. There are a few paint chips and some dings here and there but nothing that detracts from the overall appearance. I had the car out last Sunday and took it on a 100 miles plus drive. Heat is great. Car ran terrific. No noises, drips, squeaks, or rattles. This is not your typical northern car. It has been well cared for and it shows. Heat and air conditioning work well. Large carpeted trunk. Would make an excellent vacation car. I'd drive this car anywhere. The trip computer shows just over 19 mpg in local driving. I would imagine 22-24 would be possible on a trip. My 87 gave me 23 highway and the '03 did over 24. These cars are very dependable. If you like the boxy Town Cars and enjoy quality materials in the interior, there isn't much not to like about this car. Feel free to ask any questions. The car is sold with no written or implied warranty. Please realize the car is over 25 years old. There will be wear and tear from normal use. If you are local and wish to inspect the car prior to bidding, let me know and I will do my best to arrange a time that suits. Car has a clean title in my possession. On Jan-05-15 at 12:35:46 PST, seller added the following information: I've had some questions regarding the condition of the car. What I do know is the car has had regular maintenance work performed by the previous owner. The new items are exhaust from the cats back, new tires, new hoses and belts. New heater core. Tuneup including cap and wires. Newer plugs. Transmission fluid change and new filter. New coolant. Regular oil changes. I just recently replaced the heater control valve, and the previous heat problem is fixed. Also put in a new fan blower motor resistor to be safe. From a visual inspection under the car, there is no sign of any structural rust. I mean none. The previous owner used white lithium grease on every pivot point on the chassis. He even coated the brake lines and emergency brake cables. The rear drums were sprayed at the adjustment points. The door bottoms are perfect. There is no evidence anywhere of any rust. The only surface rust is on the exhaust clamps. No evidence of any rear end leaks...at the gasket or the pinion area. The transmission output seal is dry. The rear main is dry. The front suspension points have evidence of plenty of grease. Some of the chassis grease has migrated to the nearby components, but nothing is leaking. The brakes all check out fine. No evidence of any shock leakage. The pinch welds have no damage from incorrect jacking. The rockers retain the original factory finish. The drive shaft shows some light scaling but it's minimal. The bumpers are excellent. Not a sign of pitting or corrosion. The stainless along the bottom is fine, but there are a few dings. The man even used the battery corrosion discs at the cable connections. The car starts fine and runs fine.
