CUSTOM 1956 CADILLIC SERIES 75 FLEETWOOD LIMO. THIS CAR WAS TREATED TO A FULL CHASSIS AND SUSPENSION UPGRADE INCLUDING A MODERN DRIVELINE. THE REASON WAS SIMPLE. WHY ADD A MODERN OUTDATED CHASSIS FROM THE COLD WAR ERA. WE WANTED SOMETHING THE WE COULD DRIVE EVERYDAY. BENEFITS EASY TO GET PARTS/MAINTAIN. MORE POWER BUT NOTHING OVER THE TOP. THE LT1 FOR THE CORVETTE. IF MORE POWER IS NEEDED MINIMAL MODS CAN BE MADE. WITH EFI WHEN THE KEY IS TURNED THE CAR WILL START... AND STAY RUNNING TAKE OFF AND BETTER FUEL ECONOMY AND HIGHER MORE COMFORTABLE HIGHWAY SPEEDS. BETTER BREAKS INCLUDE ABS AND HANDELING. THIS PROJECT CONSISTED OF TAKING A 1996 CHEVROLET CAPRICE/IMPALLA SS AND REMOVED THE BODY FROM THE FRAME LEAVING THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION, LENGTHENED AND AND ADJUSTED THE FACTORY MOUNTS FROM THE CAPRICE TO THE CADILLAC BODY. CAPRICE HAD AROUND 222,000 MILES WHEN THE SWAP WAS DONE. THE COLUMN, HARNESS INCLUDING THE INTERLOC AND SMART KEY WERE LEFT INTACT. THE TILT COLUMN WAS INSTALLED AND EVEN THE DIGITAL GUAGES FIT IN THE DASH. TURN THE KEY AND THE SPEEDO READS 298 MPH THEN TO ZERO JUST LIKE IT SHOULD. EVEN THE FACTORY WINDOWS AND SEAT WORK AS WELL AS THE LIGHTS AND SIGNALS. TO GET THE STANCE OUR DONOR CAR ALREADY HAD 2" BELL TECH DROP SPINDLES ALONG WITH BILLSTEIN SHOCKS. WE ADDED NEW SWAY BAR BUSHINGS AND A ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP. THE TRUNK PAN WAS MODIFIED TO ADD SPACE BY REMOVING THE TIRE WELL. AN INSPECTION COVER WAS ADDED. ANTI CHIP RILLED BEN LINER WAS APPLIED TO THE TRUNK TO LOOK GOOD AND SEAL AGAINST COROSION. TO ADD FUEL SIMPLY LIFT THE TAIL LIGHT UP AS YOU WOULD IN 1956. IT HAS THE FOLDOUT JUMP SEATS INTACT. PASSENGER SIDE & REAR DRIVERS SIDE GLASS IS CRACKED BUT STILL ROLLS UP AND DOWN FINE. WINDSHIELD HAS A SMALL FOGGED AREA ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE INTERIOR IS ALL ORGINAL EXCEPT FOR THE CARPET. THE DASH PAD IS VERY NICE AND IS FREE OF CRACKS. STILL HAS THE AUTRONIC EYE. THE ORGINAL SIGNAL SEEKING RADIO IS STILL IN PLACE AS WELL AS THE POWER ANTENA NEITHER ARE HOOKED UP. THE BODY IS AVERAGE AS SEEN IN THE PICS. IT HAS A FEW RUST SPOTS ON THE INNER FRONT FENDERS AND SOME HERE AND THERE ALONG WITH DENTS AND SURFACE RUST. THE WIPERS WORK ON THE ORGINAL CADILLAC SWITCH BUT ARE VACUM. THE DRIVE SHAFT IS FROM A SILVERADO AND IS A TWIN UNIT WITH CARRIER BEARING. THE RADIATOR IS WHAT WE HAD IT WORKS BUT WOULD HAVE A CUSTOM UNIT MADE THAT WOULD FIT INSIDE THE SUPPORT INSTEAD OF BEHIND IT. THE AC UNIT COMPRESSOR IS STILL IN PLACE SO YOU CAN PURCHACE A CLEAN UNDERSASH HEAT AND AC UNIT FROM VINTAGE AIR. THE CAPRICE UNIT WAS TO LARGE FOR THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. CAR IS DRIVABLE BUT WOULD TRAILER IT IF YOU ARE THE WINNING BIDDER. I DRIVE THIS CAR AROUND TOWN NOTHING REAL FAR. DEFINITELY A HEAD TURNER AS YOU DON'T SEE THEM AROUND. WITH SOME WORK THIS CAR WOULD MAKE A GREAT RAT ROD. FRONT FLOOR PANS WILL NEED REPLACED. IT DOES HAVE POWER STEERING BUT IS NOT WORKING. ANY QUESTIONS SHOOT ME AN EMAIL AND I WILL GET BACK WITH YOU. THERE IS A GM TECHNICAL PARKING STICKER ON THE BACK OF THE REARVIEW MIRROR ALSO SOME VINTAGE OIL CHANGE STICKERS ON THE DOOR FROM THE 1960'S AS SEEN IN THE PICS. A LITTLE MORE INFO ON THE FLEETWOOD. THE CADILLAC ASSEMBLY PANT IN DETROIT BUILT THE FLEETWOOD SERIES 75 LIMO. THE FLEETWOOD WAS HAND ASSABLED IN THE CONER OF THE PLANT. THE WAS BOT BUILT ON THE MAIN ASSEMBLY LINE. THIS WAS A PREMIMUM VEHICLE. THE SERIES 75 LIMO FEATURED THE SMALL REAR WINDOW AND ONLY AVAIBLE ON THIS SERIES.
