Vehicle Detail

Exterior… This car was painted in 2000. Yeah, that’s 15 years ago. I have only owned the car since 2008, but I have talked with the man who painted this car. He told me that this is an enamel paint and he wished they still made it because it was the best he had used. Of course, everything today is a base/clear but this still has a nice shine to it. An occasional chip here and there from driving or whatever but very tough and still very nice. This car is not a trailer queen. I drive this car several times a year on the nice days. The wheels are a custom application. I seen them on another car and found the manufacturer online. The brand is Coupe R. The front wheels are 18 x 8, rear 18 x 10. These are as big as you can go without major modification. The suspension is completely stock. There was some slight rubbing on the passenger quarter but a slight mod took care of it. These wheels have been powder coated to make them easier to clean. Just wash and dry. No polishing. The tires are Nitto Extremes size 275 40 18 (rear) and 225 45 18 (front). I have installed a lot of new trim and emblems on the exterior. The rocker panel moldings, the trim around the trunk area, grille, and fenders is all new. The stainless around the windshield front and rear is original as well as the door trim. Interior… I have put my own taste on the interior of this car. The seats are ProCar brand over $1000 new. They hug you while you are driving very comfortable, however a large man will be a tight fit. Rear seat covered to match. The console is Hump Hugger brand. I felt it was a nice match to the seats. The carpet, dash pad, door panels, inserts, dash inserts all new and converted to the deluxe interior. The steering column is original however a tilt wheel would be nice with these seats. Manual Steering. The steering wheel is a replica of the Moto Lita wheel that is in the Shelbys. Very nice feel and looks. Pretty expensive, (around $400).This car had standard interior from the factory. All glass is good. The gauges are all Autometer brand and work properly. However, I do feel this is an area that could be improved upon. I did gauge cluster myself trying to save a little money on a deluxe cluster with these gauges. I did save money but it could be better. Looks great in the car. Just know what behind the dash. The wiring of this car needs redone. A painless wiring harness is definitely in the future if I keep the car. Everything works just messy behind the dash. Under the Hood… This car is an original “A” code 4 speed car. That means is had a 4 barrel 289 V8 from the factory and a 4 speed transmission. The car did have a 289 V8 when I bought the car. Freshly rebuilt. It was not the original engine so, it had to go. It now has a 347 stroker engine making 420 hp and 456 lb/ft tourque. Much improved over the 289. I have all the specs on the engine. I will attach in the auction. The gear was originally 3.08:1 ratio. I have changed it to a 3.55:1, again much improved. This car isn’t the fastest car at the show but its sure is fun to drive. Sounds great too. Two Flowmaster 44 series mufflers behind ceramic coated headers and chrome tips out the back. I’m always getting compliments on the sound of this little small block. Revs quick and has a lope to the idle. Very nice sound. The transmission is a 4 speed top loader and the rear differential is a 9” from the same 1967 Fairlane. These were in the car when I bought it. I have changed the shifter to a Hurst. Big improvement from the Mr Gasket that preceded it. Clutch and pressure plate, thowout bearing and flywheel all new. Posi unit is a Yukon brand bought and recommended by Randys Ring and Pinion. Also, under the hood I have changed the pulleys to billet (March). Aluminum twin fan radiator (2/1300 cfm fans), polished alternator, air cleaner, valve covers. The brakes work perfectly, but are original 4 wheel drum brakes. Stops smooth and straight. Another place it could be upgraded, especially with the horsepower now. This car has no heater, all bypassed. I have loved owning this car but she has to go. This is a rare find. I think the pictures speak a lot for the car but it looks very nice in person. Not a perfect show car but a high end driver. For questions please email, call or txt. Mobile (304)687-1649
