Vehicle Detail

1950 Buick Special I bought this car several years ago. The good part was a decent interior and it ran very well. I got into the body work and found the rusted through rocker panels amoung every thing else. Extensive bodywork tollowed, including welding in new rocker panels, rebuilding the doors where rusted through and many other repairs before putting on shiny fresh black paint. A previous owner had patched the floors and put in the upholstery and rugs, but I did rebuld the front seat as it sunk down too far to see over the steering wheel. A number of pieces werre rebuilt/rechromed, especially the two bullets in the front grill as the bottoms were sheared off. New bullets were obtained and the four bullets made into two, probably better quality than the factory in 1950. New emblems were put in the rechromed front and resr bezels. A new headliner was put in and new kick panels giving a very nice interior to match the outside and the pleasant and easy starting an driving this car gives. It could use new springs, but I have obtained used ones from a correct vehicle and they are included. A period radio was in the trunk, but as the car was delivered without one, so I did not install it and do not know if it works. The underfloor heater and defroster warm the car up very well in the winter and the heat does regulate with the heater control. The car starts remarkably easy and runs like a Buick should-quiet!On Nov-27-14 at 05:59:07 PST, seller added the following information: I should add-the tires are brand new Goodyear radial wide white walls ($1200.00!). I have not even put 1,000 miles on them yet, but they definately made the car a highway performer! The difference between the old bias ply and the new radials was amazing! At the Clifton, VA Labor Day car show, the won 'Best Back Seat' last year. The right rear window has a crack in it and this was after putting a new glass in it. It is almost unnoticable unless you are looking for it. All windows roll up and down easily. The trunk has carpet in it and the spare tire is a bias ply, but has the fifth hubcap to match the rest. The front license plate is a 1952 Eisenhower-Nixon original Inaugral plate (second plate is in the trunk) and will come with the car. The spot light on the right side is period, 6 volt, has a rear view mirror on it and actually works! If you want them, I do have a drive in tray that can hang on the window with its food display. I also have a drive in theatre stand and speakers to hang on the window when the car is on display. I will keep them unless you want them for $200.00. This can be decided if you are the buyer. It is a wonderful old car and very dependable.
