Vehicle Detail
Up for RE-LISTED auction is a 1987 Pontiac Sunbird Turbo GT black and red convertible with automatic transmission. NOTICE TO PERSPECTIVE BUYERS: DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU ARE GOING TO FOLLOW THROUGH AND PAY FOR WHAT YOU'VE BID ON. The last 2 bidding attempts AND accepted offers have apparently been bogus buyers. You bid - you buy - you pay...simple. This is a non-running car. I purchased it almost 1 year ago with the intention of having the engine rebuilt or replaced based upon the opinion of the owner at that time. Since then, my shop space has grown smaller due to other vehicle purchases, and we are unable to follow through with this project. I've included plenty of pictures to help answer any questions a possible buyer may have. I have no knowledge of the car's history. The car appears to be complete, albeit with a no-go motor. Sunbird internet information sets the car at being fairly rare now with only 917 automatic-equipped convertible built in 1987. Thanks to "Cash for Clunkers," there are even fewer of these cars around and very few of the 2.0 turbo motors available, I do have a running 1991 2.0 4 cylinder engine (non-turbo motor with distributor) available at extra cost. That motor was purchased with the idea of putting it in the convertible until the turbo motor could be rebuilt or replaced. The open title is up-to-date. It is quite amazing to see how well most of the car has been kept up. The convertible boot cover and its appropriate slip cover is in the trunk along with the original AM-FM stereo radio. I do not know if the radio works. The top of the back seat has several places that have torn due to sun exposure. The top itself has one small tear near the upper left conrner of the real plastic window; otherwise, it is in very good condition. The buyer needs to understand that the Sunbird is "as-is, where-is," and the buyer has to provide and pay for all transportation. There is no warranty expressed nor implied. Also, please note: please do not ask for the title to be left open upon paying for and receiving the car. The title must have the new buyer's name and address re-assigned on it before it leaves my shop. This extremely unique convertible (when it's finished) will make a great addition to any auntomobile collection with its value continuing to appreciate. Thanks for looking and good luck. On Oct-18-14 at 11:31:56 PDT, seller added the following information: Please Note: It has come to my attention that the vehicle report that is available through eBay states that there is a discrepancy in the mileage. It appears that this was a clerical mistake made March 31, 2009. On August 4, 2003, the car had 131,467 miles, but on May 31, 2012, it showed 148,077. I am confident that one didget was left off the correct mileage when it was sold and purchased (03/31/2009)and it in fact should have been recorded as 144,780. Both the interior and exterior condition of the car is too nice for it to have been the victim of a 117k mile roll back. On Oct-20-14 at 04:07:40 PDT, seller added the following information: Final note: I realized that I hadn't included pictures of the turbo motor. So here they are.
