Vehicle Detail
Up for Auction is a 1963 Volkswagen Beetle with Factory Sunroof and Factory Color (Turquoise). This is a fun car to drive and go to club events. I use it as my daily driver and get around 30 MPG. If you know your "Love Bug" history, this car is the same year and model, just with a better color. The car has had some upgrades in the drivetrain. '70 1600 motor (miles unknown), '67 (higher final drive) rebuilt transmission and 12 volt alternator conversion. Other upgrades include, Rebuilt Bendix Sapphire I radio & New speaker, Cigarette Lighter, Rebuilt wiper transmission with '67 2 speed motor and switch. I have tried to put this car as close to factory as I could and have completed, New Factory Gray Ragtop, Sandblasted & Power coated Wheels painted Factory colors ( L 381 sea green & L 286 turquoise white), Newer Firestone 560 radial tires, Reupholstered seats (Factory 75 silver beige) with New factory seat pads. From the VIN I would guess it was manufactured in Germany on Dec 9th or 10th of 1962. This Bug is a daily driver and has NOT had a pan off restoration and should NOT be considered a show car, but more of a nice 10 footer. Things that will need attention someday or never, the park lights in the headlight buckets are missing bulbs and not hooked up, there is no horn, the turn signal does not self cancel, it leeks oil (like most bugs do), there are some rust spots in the front door pillars inside and on the back of the body drivers side where the engine cover meets the fresh air vents, the bumpers are not shiny new, the drivers door on the bottom there is a small hole, the carpet is older, small rust spots on the drivers floor (passenger floor has been replaced), the passenger front wheel well there is a small hole, the paint job is 10 years old, the headliner is weathered, there are a couple of places where the paint has let loose (in back of the ragtop and deck lid), the hood has some dents and paint has chipped off, and the car has numerous rock chips in the paint and one chip in the glass of the drivers headlight protector. The advantage of having a car like this is you can afford it and drive it and have fun with the family in it. A car that has undergone a full blown restoration would cost twice as much and if you drove it and got a rock chip (which bugs are prone to get) you wouldn't be able to sleep at night. I have had this car for around 2 years and have enjoyed tinkering with it, driving it and talking with hundreds of fellow VW enthusiasts about it, but I have 6 VW's and little place to put them all. I have tried to paint a clear picture of this car, if you have any questions or would like additional photos, don't hesitate to contact me. The Buyer is to pay $1000.00 deposit via Paypal at close of auction and the car picked up and paid in full (Cash, Wire Transfer or Cashiers Check) within 10 days (I will be a little flexible with the holidays but we must agree beforehand). The Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements. I have the car for sale local and reserve the right to cancel the auction. On Nov-19-14 at 10:46:55 PST, seller added the following information: This Beetle has met my low reserve and will be sold to the highest bidder, good luck to you all.
