Vehicle Detail
This car is a 1928 Ford Model A Leatherback Fordor Sedan for sale that was built by the Briggs Manufacturing Company. This body style wasn't available until May 1928, and this car has Engine Number A512202 which dates to October 1928. This is a very presentable older restoration that is correctly finished in Rose Beige with Seal Brown moldings and an orange pinstripe. The car was restored to original specs, and is in unmodified condition with a working oil pressure gauge, a modern temperature gauge, and a rare working Boyce Motometer that lights up on the radiator. This car starts right up, runs drives and stops well. This could be a fun family car or a car enthusiasts tour car. This car is located in the state of Connecticut and is for sale locally. It is sold with a bill of sale only. Feel free to inquire with any additional questions. 1928 Ford Model A Fordor Sedan Engine no. A512202 Ford’s new Model A was introduced in November 1927. The first car, a Tudor sedan, had been completed in October, and after ten days of testing the assembly lines were started, building initially 20 cars per day. The catalog showed six passenger car body styles as well as a truck, but the sixth body, the Fordor sedan, did not become available until May 1928. Built by Briggs Manufacturing Company, a main body supplier to Ford, it was of “two window” style with blind rear quarters and nicely finished with an artificial leather roof. A very presentable older restoration, this 1928 Fordor is correctly finished in Rose Beige with Seal Brown moldings. The moldings are accented with an orange pinstripe, and the wheels and fenders are black. The roof has the brown artificial leather covering and blind rear quarters characteristic of the Briggs Fordor. The front doors are equipped with wind wings, and there are Ford script step plates on the running boards. The engine number dates from October 1928, appropriate to the car’s mix of early and late features. The steering wheel is red, but it has a center-located emergency brake and lacks the cowl vents of early Fordors. The interior is nicely done in gray-brown cloth, with a brown wool headliner. It is furnished with two opalescent bud vases, and has two accessory gauges on the instrument panel, a period oil pressure gauge and a modern temperature gauge. There is also a Boyce MotoMeter on the radiator. The drivetrain is original and unmodified. It has correct ancillaries and a manifold heater. There is a brass oil can on the firewall. The car runs, drives and stops well. An excellent example of the first-year Fordor sedan, it needs very little to be show and tour ready and can be enjoyed without further ado.
