Vehicle Detail
1950 Buick SpecialOn Nov-08-14 at 08:33:28 PST, seller added the following information: I bought this car four years ago. It runs very well, shifts fine, and rides well, but could use a set of springs, which I have sitting here in a box. I did the body completely, including new rocker panels and fresh paint. I put in a new headliner and kick panels, but the upholstery had obviously been done recently. It starts easily and runs well. I recored the radiator as this was being done. The bumper is original except the two large bullets were rebuilt and recromed as was the upper grill and front and rear emblem bars. It has a working under the seat heater in addition to the main heat. I have driven 50 to 80 miles away going to shows and it does just fine with it's big toothy smile always bring a smile to viewers. It has never left me sitting anywhere in three years. I would love to keep it, but I have a 1937 Cadillac and a Rolls Royce now needing space, so as much as I will miss it, I need more indoor storage.( A common problem with car guys!) This car is a delight and I hope it will get a new owner who can appreciate it. I will let the original 1952 Inaugural tags go with it if the new owner want them.On Nov-10-14 at 12:40:53 PST, seller added the following information: I was just asked if this car ia a Dynaflow. It is not. It is an original 'three on the tree' stick shift. The clutch is smooth and strong and the transmission shifts well. In addition to the body work, I also at the same time put all new door rubber in. It is stored inside, but being caught in the rain does not bring any wetness inside. The rear emblem is new reading 'Buick Eight'- correct for the car and not the Dynaflow emblem on it when I got the car.On Nov-12-14 at 05:35:51 PST, seller added the following information: Further commentary in case you did not read the questions. This car has four new Goodyear radial tires on it which solved the driving problem of darting around on the old bias ply. Cost was about $1200.00. Body and paint work (new rocker panels welded in place) ran $8000.00. I did about $2400.00 in chrome work, but a lot of hand work brought out the rest. The bumpers sat in my office all winter when the body was being doneso I could work on them little by little. I found chrome in places that looked like they were silver painted! There was a period Buick radio in the trunk that the previoous owner obviously was going to put it, and I donot know if it works.
