Vehicle Detail
For sale is my 1957 VW Beetle with 8700 original miles! I have put less than 1000 miles on this car since purchasing it about two years ago from Rallye Imports, located in Midland, MI, where it was part of their collection. It received a professional pan off restoration to original condition shortly before I purchased it. Here is what I know about the history of the car. This was the Rallye imports Ebay description when I purchased it, word for word: "This 1957 VW Beetle with 7,800 actual miles was in indoor storage for very many years. When it was pulled out of storage, it was found the engine was damaged. The owner, a well known VW aficionado / restorer decided to make this his best ever classic Beetle. He installed a new old stock original 1200 Volkswagen engine that he owned for decades in its original crate. Next he dis-assembled the whole car and painted every surface inside and out with an epoxy primer and treated the car to an excellent paint job with enamel paint. All mechanical items were dis-assembled and rebuilt or replaced to make this car like new. The tires, brakes, suspension, electrical, glass, exhaust, heat exchangers, lights, carburetion, interior, locks, clutch, and transmission are like new. There was no cheap junk parts used in this restoration. The only down side to this car is there are some fine cracks in the steering wheel, the radio is junk, and there is an added fuel filter before the carburetor. Now part of the Rallye collection, this car has been driven, checked, sorted out and appreciated. If you buy a car that has been part of the Rallye collection, you can be sure it runs as it was intended, and is well sorted. Whether you buy a real show stopper or a driver you have always wanted, cars from the Rallye collection run and run right." Note; I have a copy of the original Ebay listing from when I purchased the car, and Rallye imports has excellent Ebay feedback selling cars. I have had the steering wheel recast to new condition by Koch's, had the AM stereo professionally rebuilt, and installed new white wall Coker tires. I have added an original vintage VW roof rack that is also in excellent condition (see the "VW" logo and "made in Germany" stamping in the picture) that is valued over at over $1000.00. Rallye Imports sold me the vehicle as having actual miles -after a thorough inspection I believe that is correct. I also have a signed copy of the title from the previous owner stating that the miles are actual, the speedometer is stamped 1957, and the engine block has no serial numbers on it indicating that it is a factory crate engine. This car has matching numbers on the pan and body, it is still 6 volt and has the original non-synchronized 1st gear transmission. All lenses (headlight, bullet turn signals, snowflake tail lamps, license plate lamp) are Hella. Everything on this car works as it should -it drives, runs, shifts, and looks excellent! I have entered this car in many large shows and it has always won 1st place. This car needs nothing but a new owner! The only problems I can find on this car are some minor dents in the aluminum trim (easily replaced), and a previous owner had an accessory switch mounted to the left of the headlight switch (I removed it and covered the hole in the dash with a saint Christopher's metal -see pictures and video). Here is a link to a Youtube video I took of the car: 1957BEETLE As with any car, I recommend checking it out before buying or submitting an offer. Email or call 269-350-8919 for more info. Thanks for looking! -Kevin
