1958 European Convertible with Semaphores This auction is for a scarce European Beetle Convertible with semaphores. My dad fixed the car up about 20 years ago, and for at least 12 years this car was stored in a barn and then my garage. This is a project car. The engine runs and the car has a new battery, fuel pump, rebuilt carburetor, and the brakes are currently being repaired. The car was originally charcoal grey with a black top and brick red interior. My dad changed the color scheme to brown and cream after he saw a Hebmuller in those colors. The car is painted two-toned brown and cream with brown semaphores, and brown interior. The brown canvas top is in great shape and looks much newer than it is. The interior is also in great shape. It has a fancy steering wheel with a silhouette of a woman on the horn button. The car includes a reproduction spare tire wheel tool kit. Reproduction fender skirts are included. The bumpers have been removed from the car and are included. They are rusty. The car has several little dents, dings, and spots with missing paint. There is some rust. The rear floor pan is rusted through where the battery resides.There are places that were repaired with bondo fill that is now beginning to crack. The driver side door came from a later model Beetle and does not fit properly. It currently does not open or close. I think the door will work properly if the door handle is changed to match the year of the door. The correct door handle is included but not placed on the car currently. The semaphores are currently not working but have worked in the past. The engine and gearbox are not matching numbers. The chassis and body do numbers match. The odometer reads 11,260, but has surely rolled over.
