Vehicle Detail

1963 Dodge dart GT convertible for Sale. Clear title. Fantastic, ready to drive family fun machine Car has only 72,000+ miles and sports the largest engine offered that year as the “270” labelled the 225 venerable "slant six” engine controlled by the PUSHBUTTON automatic 3 speed on the dash. It has been enhanced by the addition of power front disc brakes activated by a dual chamber master cylinder which is a MAJOR upgrade over the original drum brakes all around activated by a single master cylinder. The automatic shifts smoothly through the gears (3 speed transmission) and glides down the road on a rebuilt front suspension. It drives forever at 65 MPH even in 95F heat without overheating, and gets 20-25 MPG. It has one of the nicest engine compartments ever and the trunk (which is huge) is just as nice. The car has a gorgeous new new interior and a convertible top which operates smoothly with the power switch. The original AM radio is present, restored and working. This is connected to the”center of the dash” original speaker and works well. An aftermarket AM/FM/CD player was mounted in the glove box poorly so that when the glove box door was closed, the radio was turned on. This has been removed (the glove box reconstituted) and is included, unmounted in the trunk. Speakers, mounted in the door panels, are still present and wired to under the dash. The bodywork and paint are new but “driver "and not show quality: a "10-20 footer", perfect for a family car. The panels could be aligned better and the paint could be better in some areas but it has great color and gloss. The stainless steel trim is in good to excellent condition. The convertible top and plastic rear window are very good to excellent. All the glass is good and the windows all roll up and down properly. There is a nice new FLOWMASTER exhaust with a nice deep growl to it. Power steering and power brakes make it very comfortable to drive. The wheels are nearly new and carry high performance low profile tires, all of which should last forever given typical classic car use. There is a spare tire in the trunk recess but it is not low profile. There is no jack. As there are a few things on the car which don’t function, here are the important features that do work: Headlights, high and low beams, stop/brake lights, turn signals, Horn, windshield wipers, temperature gauge, ammeter, power top control, original AM radio, speedometer and fuel gauge. Not working now are the cigarette lighter, fan for defrost and heater, and the defrost and heater which are not connected by their air conduits. There was an irregular cut out of the bottom of one of the new rear side panels, the repair of which is shown in pictures.. There is been slight shrinkage of the carpet due to being caught out in the rain once causing some shrinkage apparent in the picture of the right rear panel repair. The new door panels don’t allow the door handles to be directed as originally placed . The new position feels slightly awkward but works well. Fiddlings for the next enthusiast.
