Vehicle Detail
**Relisting this truck due to a non-paying bidder. Do not bid unless you are serious about purchasing this vehicle.** This very rare Isuzu VehiCROSS SUV is in fair condition. (If you don't know much about the VehiCROSS, I've included some details about this unique and sought after truck below.) As you can see in the pictures, it was involved in a minor collision which damaged the front end and hood. The hood won't latch currently so I've got it held down with a pair of bungee cords which hold it securely even at highway speeds. Aside from the damage caused by the accident, the body is in awesome shape, as is the interior. The truck starts, runs and drives fine and is currently being driven so mileage listed may be higher at the time of sale. The transmission shifts fine and the 4WD Torque on Demand works as it should. Because of the damage done to the front end, the cooling fan does not run and the engine can run hot if you are sitting in stop and go traffic. The collision also damaged the a/c condenser so the air doesn't blow cold although it was working fine before the accident. The undercarriage is virtually rust free as you can see in the pictures. The exhaust does have a leak in it somewhere so it is a little noisy to drive. The truck is riding on stock 16 inch rims and has good tread left on the 225/75R16 Goodyear Wranglers as you can see in the pictures. It has an upgraded aftermarket Sony stereo CD player with MP3 capability, AUX / iPod input and Bluetooth hands free calling and audio streaming. The power locks and windows work fine and the windows stay in track. It has professional window tinting which is great in the southern sun. The truck has an aftermarket trailer hitch. It started life silver, but the previous owner (who owned a body shop) repainted it Proton Yellow and also pained the cladding gray. The engine was replaced in Jan 2013 with a low mileage replacement engine. The truck had 165,791 miles on it at that time and the replacement engine had approx 77,000 miles, so the engine has less than 85k miles on it. The Isuzu VehiCROSS is a compact SUV from Isuzu. Produced from 1999 through 2001 for the US market, it shares much of its components with the Trooper, including both its 3.2 L and 3.5 L V6 engine that produces 215 bhp (160 kW; 218 PS) at 5400 rpm and 230 lb·ft (312 N·m) at 3000 rpm of torque. The vehicle also features the Torque on Demand (TOD) 4-wheel-drive system produced by BorgWarner. It is a small, sporty 2-door crossover vehicle with aggressive external styling, including short overhangs, an aggressive forward stance, titanium "teeth" in the grille, a black hood-insert, and black plastic cladding over the entire lower half of the vehicle. The US VehiCROSS came equipped with 16" polished wheels in 1999 and 18" chrome wheels during the remainder of production. Only 4,153 were ever imported into the US. The VehiCROSS was highly regarded for its cross-terrain performance. It combined a computer-controlled AWD system for on-road driving and a locked-differential low-gear 4WD system for off-road driving. The Japanese version offered a 2WD non TOD or 4WD TOD option. The US-only constant 4WD TOD, with 12 independent sensors for detecting wheel spin and capable of redirecting power to the wheels with the most traction, gives the VehiCROSS a high level of traction on wet and icy roads. It also has a high level of performance for its height. While possessing on-road nimbleness, its body-on-frame truck construction, suspension and 4WD gearing make it very capable off-road. The VehiCROSS was originally unveiled as a concept vehicle at the 1993 Tokyo International Auto Show. Its ultimate Japanese production release in 1997 was notable in that the production vehicle arrived with very few design changes and in a very short time. This feat was accomplished through the use of inexpensive ceramic body-stamping dies and the reuse of readily-available Isuzu parts. The truck was intended to showcase Isuzu's off-road technology, and is one of the few vehicles to ship with monotube shocks with external heat-expansion chambers, a technology normally reserved for off-road motorcycle racing.
