1970 Road Runner UPDATED 10-10-2014: ADDED 3 NEW PHOTOS SHOWING THE CAR WITH MAGNUM 500'S AND BFG T/A'S. CHOOSE EITHER TIRE AND WHEEL PACKAGE YOU PREFER. NO ADDITIONAL COST AT ALL. To my knowledge, this is the CHEAPEST running-driving 1970 Road Runner in this condition anywhere on-line. It is a real RM vin code Road Runner, not a cloned Satellite, and it is a factory A/C car also. The price verses the condition is undeniably CHEAP. It may be a very, very long time before you see another in this condition at this price. An excellent starting point for a great 1970 Road Runner project, or drive it daily just as it is. Most importantly, you can actually drive this one right now while you work on it. Why so cheap? Our plans changed. We have built an awesome ’69 RR pro-street/drag car that’s been winning trophies pretty much constantly, and yet I have always liked the 1970 better. With that in mind, I started planning a 1970 Road Runner full-tube chassis, fiberglass front end car. That’s why I bought this car. I already had purchased a 1970 Satellite for the project, but came to realize the final value of the car once complete would be MUCH, much less if I started with a Satellite (RH vin) rather than a Road Runner (RM vin). So what plans changed? A friend decided to sell his back-halved ‘Cuda drag car and I bought that instead of proceeding with this 70 Road Runner project. That’s the only reason I’m sacrificing this one at this price. ABOUT THE CAR: 440, 727 full-manual reverse valve body, B&M shifter, Carter AFB Comp series carb, Edelbrock intake, MSD 6AL box, MSD coil, MSD Pro-Billet distributor, headers and a performance cam. I have no idea on the cam specs but I can say it has an awesome powerful lope to it at idle. I’ll try to attach a video to this ad. The body is actually in pretty good shape, and is solid. The paint is amateur at best, but looks good at 20 feet. It was obviously not professional. Again, the perfect situation for a car I was going to strip down. Why pay for a car with a nicer paint job when it’s something you’re going to change anyway? The frame rails and floor are solid. The center section of the trunk should be replaced, but the trunk extensions to the quarter panels are good, so again, just the center section. That should be the ONLY metal replacement required. This car was originally burnt orange and there is plenty evidence of that fact in the trunk and on the underside of the hood. The carpet and the head liner is still burnt orange, and both need to be replaced. It has a trans line oil leak too which will need to be addressed. Minor stuff. If you are a professional builder, you will appreciate the basics are all there and in good shape. All the things we would change anyway during a build like paint, carpet, head liner, etc., all NEED replacement, and THAT drives the price down. Perfect situation... If you want to build an awesome street, pro-street, pro-touring or drag type car, this is the best starting point. Why pay 20-25-30K for a car you’re only going to tear apart and re-do anyway to build your own project? At this price, if you really wanted to take it to the limit and build an awesome car, you could still afford to put another $10K in the car and have an AMAZING ’70 Road Runner for less than $25,000 total and still be WAY under market value when finished. AND AGAIN, this car can also be driven and enjoyed just as it is if you’re on a budget. That’s the beauty of it. If you have the ability, this is the smart money right here.
