Vehicle Detail
1978 stripped to the bone, 1 long term owner, CA shortbed patina shop truck. Very straight. Mostly original paint. Bought new in Lodi CA at Sanborn Chevrolet and never left. Original owner past away and his widow kept it garaged for a few years then left it under a tree for about 5 more (hence the 'patina'). Just purchased a few months ago by the 2nd owner who believes the truck only has 18K original miles. Truck runs and drives good, and original seat in amazing condition would make me think ....maybe that's true, but I am more inclined to believe 118K. Truck was also built right here too at the Fremont Ca plant. Truck has been lowered with a CROWN rear flip kit, C notched reinforced frame, new shocks and shock extenders. Up front, it has 3/4 ton springs with 1 cut coil and re-aligned correctly. Truck has the single piece driveline so no issues with needing to reposition a carrier bearing. Truck rides very nice. As mentioned, truck runs, drives and stops fine, and recently passed CA smog, but has only been back on the road a handful of times and some deferred maintenance and further attention will surely be needed. Original bias ply tires, for instance, have plenty of tread but track the road and not as comfortable as a modern radial (they do look cool though and could be saved for show/exhibition). Everything seems to work, with the exception of the horn (which works with an aftermarket steering wheel but not the original, aftermarket wheel included) and the gas guage goes a little wonky sometimes. Heater, lights, blinkers, high and low beams, wipers, etc are all working. This might be one of the most stripped down trucks I have ever seen in a late 70's square body style. Radio delete, no cab dome light or even the housing for one, no power options, etc. Just a super basic fun little shorty to play with, tinker on, go to school in, parts or shop truck etc., that has very little to go wrong with it. Looks great too with Moonies full wheel covers (and I can include a set if you prefer over the vintage painted hubcaps pictured). DRD is a licensed, bonded CA dealer. Sales tax and dmv fees due to all buyers taking delivery in CA. Truck is currently licensed, registered and smogged with no fees due at the time of this listing. PPI: welcomed and encouraged. SHIPPING: I can help with shipping and have contacts that are generally about 30% lower than the quoted Uship offerings on the shipping tab of this auction.
