Vehicle Detail
My wife's Grandmother bought this car from the original owner on October 13, 2000 with 126,000 original miles, and in March of 2008 she could no longer drive due to her health. The car sat in her driveway for four years until she gave the car to her Granddaughter (my wife) on 6/20/2012 with 140,437 miles on it. The car sat for another year until my wife decided it was time to get it out of the driveway. After sitting dormant for a total of 5 years, I installed a new battery on 7/7/2013 and the car started right up; that is when I decided to put some money into the car and sell it. I have a little over $3000 in repairs and would love to continue the restoration, but just don't have the time. We have all the 1st owners maintenance records and vehicle documents up to February 1999, and our Grandmothers repair records from 2000 to January 2007. Prior to our taking ownership of the car in 2012, our Grandmother kept repair records for the following major items:11/01 new vacuum pump4/05 replaced vacuum shut off valve and booster hose8/06 replaced entire exhaust system1/07 had transmission rebuilt and new torque converter Since our taking ownership of the vehicle in 2012 we have records for the following repairs:7/13 New battery, new fuel filters, new air filter8/13 New front and rear brakes, rotors, and new right front caliper8/13 New tires8/13 New fuel line hose from fuel tank8/13 Installed new ignition switch and key tumbler (old one was worn out due to Grandma having to many keys on key ring)10/13 New primary water pump, new auxiliary water pump, and new thermostat11/13 Alternator adjusted, new fan belt, fuel injectors tightened, and new return fuel lines installed6/14 Replaced both lower ball joints and idler arm bushings, replaced vacuum valves on valve cover, adjusted modulator on transmission, and converted air conditioning from R-12 to R-134Positive items about this vehicle:As you can see from the photos this car is a head turner and in beautiful condition for a 31 year old vehicleThe car is mechanically sound and is in very good running conditionThe interior is in excellent condition, no rips or tears in MB TEXOriginal radio and power antennae workAir conditioning is new and blows ice coldClock and tach workSun roof worksFirst aid kit and tool kit still on boardAll maintenance records from the original ownerPower windows workI compounded and waxed the car and the paint came back beautifullyNever smoked inThings that need repairs:Please remember this vehicle is 31 years old, that being said the paint as good as it looks has seen better days. Close examination shows the clear coat has hair line cracks on the hood (I tried to capture it with the camera but they are to small to see unless you get up real close). There are rust spots on the vehicle (photos taken under the front bumper on both sides of the car show the rust spots which are very common on these cars.) Another location that had a rust spot was on the rear trunk drivers side between the power antennae and the rear window. I took a close up photo to show someone filled the spot with fiberglass but did a poor job. When it rains or when the car is washed this spot will still leak into the trunk. Overall the existing paint has a beautiful shine and looks great, but someone who can do bodywork will have no problem taking care of the rust spots and clear coat issues. There was a small dent on the front passenger door that Grandma had repaired and painted in 2005, you can see where the clear coat ends on the door but the camera could not capture it. Another annoying problem with these cars is the vacuum locks do not workThe new key fits the ignition and doors, but I can't get it to work in the trunk. It was working, but stopped. May be a vacuum issue.Cruise control does not work (this is a very common problem with these cars)Both rear door stays are broken, but are not a problemDrivers side inside door latch is loose but worksVery small cracks in dash, hardly noticeable Additional information AS IS - NO WARRANTY This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied.
