Vehicle Detail
Up for sale I have one of the coolest, rarest, most head turning motorcycles ever conceived - the 2004 Honda Valkyrie Rune. Nobody know the exact number, but is is approximated that only 2,000 of these motorcycles were produced. At the time of their release, they retailed for $27,000 and up. The specimen I have for sale is the #11 bike off the assembly line which makes it an extraordinarily collectible piece of motorcycle history. The bike is all original except for the after market windshield and time piece which can easily be removed. This bike has less than 7,000 very pampered miles. Expect to become a very popular person if you choose to take ownership of this bike. Everywhere I have ever taken it, the bike draws a crowd from curious onlookers to seasoned riders of all kinds. I hope you like conversation because this will strike up more than its fair share on your behalf! This bike comes in the illusion blue color which is aptly named. On a pitch black night, it looks black. On a nice sunny day, the color shifts from a royal blue to purple. On an overcast day it looks like a dark navy blue. It is an awesome paint job that seems to reflect the different moods of the lighting and outdoor conditions. The shame with these bikes is that they came off the assembly line basically perfect from an aesthetic point of view, yet a large number of buyers decided to take these bikes to chop shops and have them "customized." I am not being critical of the practice. This is my third motorcycle and I modified the first two quite a bit. The difference is the first two bikes I owned were mass market production vehicles that had zero historical or collectible value. Customizing those bikes had little to no impact on their resale value. This bike is the largest and heaviest motorcycle ever made by Honda with a radical design normally reserved for futuristic concept bikes at the motorcycle shows. In ten years, when this bike turns twenty years old, if the next owner has done a good job of maintaining it and keeping the miles reasonably low, this bike will skyrocket in value as a collector's piece. I belong to several worldwide Rune owners clubs on-line, and every day I see some new Rune owner who posts photos showing they changed the factory paint, put some ridiculous exhaust on their Rune to make it look like a set of bagpipes on wheels, or worst of all, wrecked it beyond repair. Low mileage, original & mint condition Honda Runes are becoming more and more scarce every year. All of the Runes were hand made right here in the USA which explains their limited run and extremely high asking price at the time of their introduction. This bike is basically in mint condition. It has a light scuff mark in the rear fender that looks like it never got below the clear coat, likely from someone walking by and rubbing something like a nylon briefcase or backpack over it. It happened in a parking garage where I work. There is one small chip in the paint on the very bottom of the rear fender that is almost impossible to see when standing because it is on the underside of the fender. Photos will illustrate these minor defects. My local Honda dealer offered to make the rear fender as good as new for under $200 so as you might imagine, with such a low quote, it's not serious. Otherwise the bike is simply gorgeous. No dents whatsoever.Everything else on this bike looks shiny as new. The chrome is flawless with absolutely no pitting or tarnishing. The tires are in good shape. The oil was just changed on 8-21-2014 as were the rear brake pads. The bike was given a 50 point safety inspection at that time by my local authorized Honda House dealer and the rear brake pads were the only cause for concern so they were replaced. In addition, the battery in the bike was going on 6 years old, so I replaced the battery in July of 2014 before it became a potential issue. This bike has plenty of power from the 1832 cc boxer 6 cyl engine. It rides very smooth, shifts very easily, and is surprisingly nimble for its heft. Like all Honda products, it is also one very reliable and trouble free vehicle. This is the NRX1800EB model which means it came with the extended handlebars (option E) and full chrome package (option B). Included in this auction is the original collector's book that came with the bike. This was exclusive to the 2004 model and includes some really breathtaking artwork along with the story of how this bike went from a dreamer's concept to production. The cover of the book is made from fiberglass and is painted in the same illusion blue paint as the bike itself. I will also throw in the original Honda touch up paint kit that came with it. This motorcycle can be yours for a fraction of the original price. I will require a $500 deposit from the winning bidder within 48 hours of auction close. Please do not bid on this motorcycle unless you are absolutely certain you intend to carry through with the transaction. This means if you intend to secure financing, I expect you will have already applied for a loan and been approved prior to making any bids.Arrangements can be made to pick up this motorcycle locally or shipped at the buyer's expense (cost varies depending on locale). This bike is also listed for sale in a couple of local newspapers. If someone shows up at my door with cash in hand, I reserve the right to terminate this listing early. As such, there is a buy it now option to prevent this from happening to any seriously interested party. If you have any questions, please ask. I would rather help you make the right decision about owning this magnificent bike than the wrong one.
