Vehicle Detail

1987 Chevy Chevette CS has the 1.6 liter 4 cylinder engine with 4 speed manual transmission. It has manual brakes, manual steering, and no air conditioning. The odometer currently reads 44,638 and the previous owner said it had rolled over once so its 144,638. I feel the condition of the car is really good for its age, although it is not perfect. I will describe what I know about the car below. The interior is red. Seats are fabric and show some sun fading although they do not have any rips or tears. The plastic in the trunk area has faded but none of the plastic has any visible cracks or damage. The carpet is in really good condition with no holes or big stains. The car still has the factory GM floor mats in it from 1987 and are still doing there job. The headliners fabric has separated from the headliner on the drivers side behind the sun visor. Everything works as designed inside the car. Radio was replaced with an am/fm/cassette player at one point. Back side windows open and close, hinges are not broke (common on these cars). Spare tire, jack, and lug wrench are all behind the back seat under the cover. The shock for the rear hatch is getting a little weak but still holds the hatch up unless its breezy or windy. Windshield is newer with no chips or cracks. The exterior body is in pretty solid shape. It has some dings and dents like any 27 year old car would. The hood has some minor dents on the very front of it. The paint has some chips around the passenger rear wheel well from tire chains, drivers side has none. Clear coat is flaking off some on the passenger side below the side windows. Overall the paint looks well for its year and still has some shine. Front bumper has rock chips and some light surface rust, the lower spoiler has paint chipping off. The plastic covers on the corners of the bumpers have rubbed a thing or two over the years. The passenger side door has some surface rust on the front corner by the window and on the bottom corners. Floors are solid and have no holes or bad rust (also common on these cars). The drive-train is solid. I put new tires on last spring, also had the front end aligned. All brakes were checked along with the front end and everything was good with no worn out parts. The clutch feels tight and does not slip. The rear main seal on the engine leaks a little oil and leaves a few drops here and there but doesn't seem to burn any oil. Engine had a compression test done earlier this year and the numbers were good and showed the engine to be solid. All maintenance with tune-up items have been done as scheduled. The catalytic converter was replaced around 2002 at around 130k. The check engine light does work, it goes off when running and has never came on while driving. The engine runs very smooth and seems to have the power it should. The car started out in Sioux Falls, South Dakota when a male purchased the car, had it about a year and put around 3,000 miles on it and traded it in as he was too tall for the car and I was told his head was rubbing the ceiling (this is what the 2nd owner told me when she bought it). An older woman purchased the car in early 1988 and made her way to the Seattle area where she lived for quite a few years, then moved to the Denver area. She was employed at a place that provided her a bus pass so she only drove it to a park-n-ride that was close to home. She said she didn't drive it much since she moved to Denver in the late 90's. She said she went to college in Chadron, Nebraska at one point during winter and was running tire chains. At about that same time she had the pin strips added as she said the snow plows were almost hitting the car being it was all white and it blended in, so she wanted to make it more noticeable. She then told me her sister got a new car and gave her the old one and that is when the chevette got parked. I purchased the car in fall of 2013 and life has changed directions for me and am hoping to get it to a home that will continue to care for the car. Please look at all pictures, I've described everything in the best details I can and what I know about the car. I ran a Carfax on it and it said an accident was reported. The woman I got it from said she was never in an accident. I can not see or find any damage on the car. All body lines look good, all doors open and close properly and do not need slammed, all window and door seals are good and the car seals up well. I have 4 new studded snow tires that are included with the sale. I have a free and clear title for the car. Overall I think it is a nice car for the year. I will assist with shipping and getting the car where it needs to go or assist with transportation. Or I can pick someone up from the airport so you can drive it home. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. Winning bidder must contact me within 24 hours of auction end along with a $500 deposit that is non refundable. Remaining balance must be paid within 7 days. Payment can be made by Paypal, or secured verifiable funds. All non-paying bidders will be reported! If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Thanks. On Sep-20-14 at 15:48:55 PDT, seller added the following information: ** I made a photocopy of the title from the previous owner to show she purchased in January 27, 1988 with the car having 3,462 miles. This would be a nice car for a collector to have or to add to a collection. With a little paint work on the front I think this would be one clean, cool little car! The car is currently registered with Colorado. **
