Own This Former Super Chevy Magazine SS509 Nova Project Car Original SS350 4-speed, now has Dart-built 509, Performance Automatic Turbo 400 trans, Currie 9-inch rear with 3.91 gears. Hooker headers flow into 3-inch Pypes exhaust with X-pipe. Proform 950 cfm carb on Dart single plane intake Has Total Cost Involved front clip, rack-and-pinion steering, coilover front shocks, 4-wheel-disc brakes, and Weld RTS wheels (Nitto 325/50R15 drag radials rear, P215/70R15 redlines in front). Out back there is a 20-gallon fuel cell and dual Optima red top batteries in the trunk. Car is mini-tubbed. Competition Engineering Slide-a-Links and rear shocks provide good ride and excellent bite under acceleration. Drive it ANYWHERE on pump gas. Car was driven from South Jersey to Tampa and it performed flawlessly. Numerous articles about this car can be found at superchevy.com. Huge radiator, never runs hot. Interior has ididit tilt column, Covan's dash with Auto Meter gauges, and TCI shifter. Pioneer stereo with CD player in custom center stack, and new rear speakers. Front seats, door panels, headliner in good shape; needs carpet and rear seat recover. Mechanically, this car is close to perfect. Made 668 horsepower on Dart's engine dyno. Have since added a Comp solid street roller cam for even more power. Car has run a best of 10.47 at 130 on Nitto 555 drag radials at Atco Raceway in good air; has run 10.9s in Florida summer heat and humidity. Items that need attention: Body is straight, but needs rust repair and paint. Before I owned the car, someone put a new floor over the old one. Car does not leak, but these are not factory floors. Dash pad is cracked, but it has a custom carpet covering. This is a 40-year-old car and there are some items that need attention. Speedometer needs to be calibrated and tach and temp gauge not working at the moment. Turns signal not functional. Wipers and turn signals do work.
