1972 Saab Sonett III. Baja Red. 42,518 original miles. Bought in 2003 with 37,477 miles. Babied and garaged ever since. Best original and unrestored Sonett III on the road in US today. Just a few details from Concours condition. Have history of ownership including first owner. Fiberglass body, Ford V-4 1.7L engine making 65 hp. More than enough power to move this little 1800-pound baby damn quick. Top speed achieved – 105 mph. 4-speed manual transmission, hydraulic clutch, manual steering, hydraulic manual front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. Starts and runs every time. First place winner in class at Saabs at Carlisle in 2009. This car has NO RUST ANYWHERE; no rust in the usual places. No rust in the rocker panels; no rust in the floor pans; no rust in the trunk and no rust under the battery! New paint in 2009, authentic 1972 Sonett color: Baja Red, “SAAB” side rallye stripes are authentic reproductions from Sweden. Retracting headlights, grille-mounted auxiliary lights. Free-wheeling feature engages and works. Original interior vinyl and carpet, seats recovered in original materials and colors, new headliner in original color and material, original leather steering wheel with no dry rot, AM/FM cassette radio, internally hidden radio antenna, new Weber 34 series carburetor with manual choke, re-built clutch slave cylinder, re-built or new brake cylinders, braided stainless brake lines, two sets of valve covers (red –installed; and originals with original stickers), original printing and stickers on air cleaner.
