Vehicle Detail
2002 Ford Explorer 4.0L V6. Has been in my family since it was a year old. Clear title (under my mothers name, she does not use ebay so I am listing it for her here). This vehicle is equipped with a 3rd row seating (7 seats total), power driver seat, power doors and locks with a remote keyless entry, cold A/C, roof racks, CD player and tape deck combo AM/FM radio, air bags, ABS, Outside temperature readout in instrument cluster and digital compass, among many other features. The large 4.0L V6 motor is very strong running and has been averaging me 16.5 MPG in my daily commute, mostly back roads 35 MPH with alot of stopping. The good: About a thousand dollars of work done over the past few months for just the parts (not including labor costs) including: Front brake pads and rotors. Rear brake pads and rotors. Parking brake shoes and springs/hardware Rear upper control arm assemblies on both sides Rear lower control arm bushings on both sides Rear tie rods on both sides Front wheel hub assemblies and ABS sensors both sides Oxygen sensor and exhaust gasket Air filter Oil change and filter Front tie rod end passenger side Recent tune up The tires have plenty of life left, interior is in nice condition, vehicle is in overall good shape. The bad: The transmission has been acting funny. Has been slipping a little and shifting hard. I was told it could possibly be the transmission valve body cracked, but it has not been looked at. The ugly: Has a dent on the right rear quarter panel, under the window. The paint is peeling from the roof racks like every single other Explorer from the same era. It also has various scratches and other normal wear and tear for a 12 year old 150k mile vehicle. The disclaimer: I might be making it sound worse than it actually is, but I am just trying to disclose all that I know about the vehicle, so there will be no bad surprises. This vehicle has always been very reliable, and we have driven it from South Carolina to Nova Scotia during our time with it. It has become a "spare car" for the past year or so, and my parents don't feel like spending any more money on it. With the transmission issue fixed, there is no reason that you couldn't get another 12 years/150k from it. I would not recommend driving the vehicle home until it has been repaired. The Explorer is sold as is, where is, with no warranty and with no reserve. Buyer is responsible for pickup/shipping. If you will need more than a couple days to get the vehicle picked up please contact me before bidding. If you would like to view the vehicle it can be seen weekdays after 5pm in Avon, MA (zip 02322) where it is currently located at my work. Deposit of $300is due within 24 hours of auction end through Paypal, remainder paid upon pickup in cash. No checks please. Buyer will be given title and bill of sale upon payment. As always, if you have any questions please ask before bidding. I will add more pictures soon, and if there is anything you would like to see I can take a picture of it for you. Vehicle is also for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early if necessary. Thanks for looking!
