Vehicle Detail

Hello everyone and thank you for looking. I am the original owner of this S1000RR, Motorrad Edition. It has a clean title and has never been raced, tracked or crashed. However, it is no garage queen! Indeed, I enthusiastically put over 65,000 miles on the bike riding nearly every day, year round. Generally, it was the best bike I have ever owned in 20 years, and never let me down other than a few minor things which were addressed by the dealer, a couple of new clutch cables, headlight bulbs replaced, new chain from time to time, oil changes etc. Here is the deal: Not too long ago and following a failed front wheel bearing, BMW agreed to extend my warrantee to replace the following: 1) New front rim2) New front rotors3) New front calipers Around that time, I also replaced a) New front and rear brake pads b) New tires (dual compound sport / touring)c) New chain and sprockets During the oil change, the technician took a closer look and listen to the engine to conclude I needed a new camshaft sensor, which was also replaced. At last, I was excited to be back on the bike with new brakes, pads and tires. But, unfortunately I was cut short when the engine bogged down and stalled on the way home, literally only a few days after I picked it up from the shop. Although generous on my previous claims, BMW concluded that the engine needed significant work or replacement - both upper and lower - following the shearing of a valve and engine failure which they were not willing to do as the bike is technically out of warrantee. Under the circumstances, I immediately bought a new 2014 S1000 as you can see in the photo. Ideally I would keep it for a "special" project bike or a spare, but it has been sitting now since March, and I cant seem to find any time to deal with it. Cosmetically, very dirty and a few scuffs and marks that you might expect on such a high mileage bike, but with fairings off and some care could clean up reasonably well. Please note general condition and crack in front fender. The gas cap needs to be replaced and the exhaust (original) has a small scuff from a 0 MPH tip over. If you have the resources and/or skill to restore the bike, this will certainly be the best deal on a clean titled, straight framed S1000RR you can find. THIS BIKE NEEDS MAJOR ENGINE REPAIR AND REASSEMBLY. IT IS CURRENTLY DISASSEMBLED AS PICTURED. IT IS BEING SOLD "AS IS" FOR A PROJECT OR PARTS ONLY. Please feel free to write with any questions and best of luck bidding. On Sep-07-14 at 09:44:54 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE / UPDATE ON SUNDAY SEP 7 Thank you for all of the interest so far. Please note the bike is disassembled but otherwise complete: the side fairings, certain parts and exhaust not pictured but in boxes, as returned to me by BMW. Local pick up (NYC area) best for everyone but I will discuss meeting a reputable shipper if organized by the buyer. Hello everyone and thank you for looking.
