This car does not run. The last time it ran was about 20 years ago when it was due for a California smog check. I figured that it wouldn’t pass the smog check. I was having trouble to get the engine to run at idle. I had advanced the timing and I had adjusted the air/fuel mixture at idle screw in order to get it to run at idle. During a smog check, I knew that the technician checks the timing to see that it’s within spec, and that he would fail the car because the timing was out of spec. I got a non-operating permit, parked the car in my driveway, and put a car cover over it. I figured that later on I could get the car to run well so that it would pass the smog check, but I never did work on the car again. Nowadays, this car is exempt from California smog checks. I bought the car in used condition from a Datsun dealer in the spring of 1972. I’m the second owner. The car is all original, except that I upgraded the radio and I added stereo speakers to the rear deck, and I added a capacitive discharge ignition system. The original mono AM/FM radio (uninstalled) is included with the car, as shown in the photos. The CD ignition system is the gold-colored box that’s mounted near the windshield washer reservoir, as shown in the photos. The CD ignition system can easily be removed. After a number of years, I had the exterior repainted, maintaining the original red color. The rear bumper was also rechromed then, but the rechroming didn’t last, which is evident in the photos. The car has been in no major accidents. The right-front fender has gotten dented twice, and the fender still has the second small dent in it, as shown in the photos. There is an area of rust on the body near the lower right corner of the windshield, as shown in the photos. The roof has some small areas of rust, as shown, along with a yardstick, in the photos. The driver’s floor pan has rust, as shown in the photos. The pan still feels solid. Photos of bottom of the driver’s floor pan and of the bottom of the front passenger’s floor pan are shown. The photo of the bottom of the driver’s floor pan also shows the right front tire in the photo. The photo of the front passenger’s floor pan does not show a tire. The weather stripping for the windshield and for the rear window needs to have sealant added to it. All four tires need to be replaced. A $400.00 Non-Refundable deposit is due via PayPal within 48 hours of Auction Close and the balance is due within 10 days of auction close and prior to pick up. Pick up must be within 14 days of auction close. A 24 hour notice is required for pick up.
