Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a 1971 Porsche 914 1.8L. Engine was rebuilt in 2001 by Precision Porsche in Fullerton, California. It has about 4,000 miles since the rebuild. The new engine gets almost 40mpg. The original engine had 78,000 miles. The wheels are from the factory, cast alloy Pedrini wheels. The tires are Yokohama with about 2000 miles on them. Brakes were done at the time of the painting about 4 years ago. The paint is as close as we could get to the original orange. It is a 2008 Hummer Orange. The body was completely stripped and sanded down to the metal. The doors had a lot of bondo in them so Darren removed all of that and bumped out the metal and filled, where necessary, with metal and then ground and sanded before the paint was applied. The body was powder coated with a white powder and then the paint was applied. The dash has a new skin on it but the old is still in place. The radio was old and did not work well so I removed it. I have not replaced it as I figured whoever bought it would want to pick their own product. The shifting is typical of the 914. It is sloppy but does work. I have a kit, never attempted to do the work, that will tighten up the shifting. The best would be to replace all of the grommets at the transaxle. The speedometer works as well as the tach, but the odometer does not. I have replaced the cable twice but to no avail. Did not want to replace odometer as it would not even show the miles the car had already been driven. There are new coil springs in the rear as well as new shocks. The back end sits a little higher than the front. The engine compartment was not cleaned when painted so shows its' age. The car was completely stripped when painted. All rust was removed before painting prep. The battery rack was removed and new metal put in place, powder coated and then painted. The white on the engine and in the compartment is a cleaner they used during the painting process. The top of the engine and the compartment needs to be cleaned. But to my knowledge there is no rust. It was a California car for whatever thats worth. No Air Conditioning. The heat exchangers work but the heater flaps that connect them to the body are not in place I have some old ones but I believe new ones are needed. I also have an extra pair of heat exchangers that go with the car. There is still some work that needs to be done: License plate lights aren't there, wind sails on side of body are missing. New rubber around doors, front hood and back hood. This Porsche 914 is ready for you to come and drive it away. I've got over $30K in this Porsche. Please email me if you have any questions!!!
