Vehicle Detail

1959 Chevrolet Apache Big Window Pickup This is a completely restored 1959 Chevrolet Apache pickup. It has approximately 1300 miles since the resto-mod was completed in June 2013. The truck is powered by a 383 stroker with a Holley 4 barrel carb. The block is a new bowtie block built by Paolo Engine Services in Oregon City. Plenty of goodies: Procomp heads KB forged pistons and Eagle forged crank. It has a medium Comp Cams bumpstick that gives it a nice deep lumpy sound, and yet very street worthy drivability. It has a late model front with serpentine belt, and is rated at well over 400HP. The 700R4 transmission was built to handle this by Larry Morton in Oregon City. It allows the truck to cruise at 70mph while turning just over 2000rpm. The underside has been updated with a 1980 Camaro front clip and rear end. A Heidt’s 4 link in the rear and dual sway bars help keep it stable. The front has Global West upper and lower control arms with Del-a-lum bushings (no squeeking). Hotchkis tuned Fox Shocks have the damping duties. The steering box is a quick ratio power unit. All making this old truck feel more like a very powerful go-cart! Additional mechanical upgrades include an aluminum crossflow radiator, Derale dual electric cooling fans, and Wilwood brakes with drilled rotors on all 4 corners. The exhaust is stainless from the tips to the headers. The headers have been ceramic coated inside and out (after the photos). It really helps keep the compartment temperature down. Now for the creature comforts and cosmetic upgrades. The cab includes a Dakota Digital VHX analog/digital instrument cluster (can say enough good things about this unit), a Ididit chrome tilt steering column, Specialty 1 piece glass power windows (the front and rear glass may be original), a double DIN CD/DVD player with GPS, shaved door handles with electric remote poppers, and a two speed electric windshield wiper motor. The entire cab has been covered in Dynamat for sound deadening. To top off the interior are bucket seats from a mid 60’s Chevy covered in black leather and Ostrich skin (good for that new car smell). Also, a brand new under dash AC and heat unit has been installed and works great. The truck sports a polished aluminum tread plate bed. It has a hinged panel in the rear that hides the rear mounted fuel tank removing the danger and fumes from the cab. An electric fuel pump feeds the beast. An 880 cold cranking amp AGM battery (5 months old) also resides in the rear to help further clean up the engine bay. The rear bumper is a shortened El Camino piece. The truck rides on Ridler polished wheels and Michelin Pilot tires. It’s has no shortage of grip. The truck has been finished with PPG Hot Rod Black enamel paint. The original hood and fender emblems were removed and replaced with a Bel-Air hood emblem. This goes well with the matte finish of the paint. There is just enough chrome to give the exterior a little pop (it’s slightly dulled) I have described this truck to the best of my ability. This is a 54 year old truck with one hell of a face-lift, and does not come with any warranty. I really haven’t gotten to enjoy this truly Bad ass truck since I got it last year. Shortly after getting it on the road I had ACL replacement surgery. As many know it’s a long recovery process. Now I find myself in need of a vehicle to haul things for a possible new business. And that is something I could never do to this beauty. Yes, I know I will hate myself later for selling it! It is rare to have something that gets this much eyeball. I parked it next to a Ferrari once and the Ferrari owner got out and said he couldn’t believe my truck was getting more attention than his car. So, happy bidding and good luck. This will make someones life much more interesting. Don’t buy it if you hate meeting new people! This is for sale locally as well.
