Vehicle Detail
Thanks for looking at my listing and considering my HMMWV. First off, if you are looking for the perfect, showroom quality truck to park and plant flowers around, THIS IS NOT IT. Ha! This truck is almost 30 years old. This is an authentic 1987 United States Marine Corps USMC M998 HMMWV (High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle); commonly known as a Humvee or Hummer. It is a real military hummer. It is the four man soft-top with an aluminum body that will never rust. It can drive under water up to the snorkeled air intake. It has a vent/closed selector for drive train and is designed to drive across a river bottom. The engine is a 6.2 liter GM natural diesel (same as the mid 80’s Suburban) so many of the engine parts can be purchased locally. All parts for this HMMWV can be purchased within the US. I have maintained this HMMWV myself or with local mechanics since I bought it in 2004. It is diesel so no smog testing required in most, if not all, states. It is the military version, created long before there was a Hummer H1 ('91?). It has no Monsoon stereo. No A/C. It is an American General HMMWV military aluminum body on the drive train, with few exceptions. I bought this truck in 2004, right here on ebay, from someone in Colorado and had it shipped to Florida. I immediately took it out in the woods and mud and used it for what it was intended. I cracked the hood within weeks, if not days, of owning it. It has crawled over and through some amazing obstacles. It does have scratches, scrapes, and dings. The tranny sometimes slips, sometimes doesn't. Give it some throttle and it always goes. The windshield wipers have worked and not worked. (currently not) It is missing the driver's side view mirror. The military seats were replaced before I owned it with racing seats with 5 point harnesses in front seats. It sits on 38 1/2" Thornbirds on aluminum wheels. I do own two of the military steel wheels and they will be included with truck, unless refused. I do drive it occasionally, so mileage might increase slightly. It got new starter and starter bracket in 2013 along with new disc brake pads. The top in the photos is the desert tan, with insulated top. It has a custom, 3" foam pad wrapped in sunbrella between all the seats for camping/sound deadening/insulation. Very nice. It has a modular carpet system throughout, though I have not installed it in 5 or 6 years. The snorkel exhaust is obvious in the pictures, but I also have the snorkel intake, though it was never painted to match and is still olive drab. The aftermarket brush guard is straight, but does have some surface rust where it has been scratched. I had a Reese type receiver welded onto the truck for towing. I encourage you to ask lots of questions and inspect the vehicle. I doubt you will be disappointed if you are looking for a uber-capable off road beast. I can and will deliver for FREE anywhere south of Orlando, FL, otherwise shipping will be the buyers responsibility. I encourage lots of questions. The VIN is 032261. (military SN) Ebay only allows 17 digit VIN's, so they had me put all 0's. Clear florida title.
