Vehicle Detail
. VIN S811010 DN (Note VIN indicates 1955 build, but Jag is titled as 1956) . Odometer reading 66,171 miles (Cannot be verified) . C- type head number - G2599-8S . Engine block number – KE9421-8 (Not original to car) . Body number F11027 . Chassis number same as VIN . Clear titlePurchased in March 2009 through a third party as a partially finished project. Information provided is based on my inspection of the car and the work I performed on it. I have no other history on this car.CONDITION AS PURCHASED. The Jag had been sitting for a long time. .The car was not running, but a partial tear down showed that the engine had been rebuilt and a new flywheel, clutch disc, and pressure plate had been installed. The compression on all cylinders was above 155 lbs. .The rear leaf springs were new. . Body work had been done to the right front fender. . The car had been repainted (Red base coat /clear coat) . The seats had been re-upholstered and a complete interior kit came with the car. . There were all new brake shoes on the car. . A stainless steel exhaust system had been installed. WORK DONE SINCE PURCHASE.The radiator was completely reworked. Installed Pertronix Flame thrower distributor and matching coil (standard style with vacuum advance, positive ground). Replaced front brakes with Wilwood disc brakes. Replaced all flexible brake lines with stainless steel braided lines. Brake master cylinder and rear brake pistons were sleeved and rebuilt . New shock absorbers front and rear. . New upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar bushings, steering rack mounts and upper and lower “A” arm bushings.. 5 new Dayton wire wheels and Vredestein radial tires. A Tremec 5 speed transmission was installed with new clutch disc and drive shaft. The H6 carburetters were professionally rebuilt. A new solid state fuel pump was installed (positive ground). A new gear reduction starter motor was installed. The side curtains are new. The grill was re-plated. There are many other components that have been replaced or refurbished, invoices are available. The Jag was put back on the road in December 2011, and has been driven less than 1000 miles (estimated) since then. I have been the only driver. THINGS THAT SHOULD BE SORTED OUT. Fog lights need to be replaced. The 4 position lighting switch is incorrectly wire (The side lamps turn on with the headlamps). Horns do not work .Speedometer does not work. The problem has been isolated to the speedometer drive gear on the transmission output shaft. I am quite certain that the gear has slipped out of position due to a faulty snap ring . I have a frame for the top, but it will require some work to be usable This Jaguar is a good looking strong running car and a lot of fun to drive. It is not a show car, but a driver. For various reasons I have not been able to continue to work on the car and rarely even get to drive it.
