Vehicle Detail
Here is a really nice ORIGINAL "SURVIVOR" UN-RESTORED 1978 Mercury Cougar XR7 Sport Coupe! If you are "crazy about a Mercury", here is one you can drive and take to shows right away at a price that won't break the bank! This was acquired from the original family who had it since new, and was always garaged when not being used, and NEVER winter driven! It is not dented or rusted out, and has all original body panels, floors, trunk, etc. with no patch panels or bondo repairs. Clean inside and out, top to bottom, and underside as well. This XR7 has the following options and equipment: 1. 351 "big block" Cleveland engine 2. Automatic transmission 3. Power steering & brakes 4. Padded vinyl landau style roof 5. Exterior décor package 6. Deluxe interior with 60/40 seat and fold down armrests 7. Air Conditioning (still works) 8. AM/FM radio with factory 8 track tape player A few days ago, I drove this car on a 190 mile trip to a car show with no issues or problems. Engine and transmission are strong and smooth. I have not seen any leaks, smoke, or oil consumption. Does not over heat or make any odd noises. Rides nice and smooth. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere. Interior is very nice original. No rips in seats, door panels, or cracks in dash like many of these cars get. Under hood and in trunk are all original un-restored and look good. White paint is smooth with a great gloss to it yet. Original chrome and bright work is all there and still looks nice. Very sharp looking in the triple white color scheme with red carpets and red stripes and accents. It is obvious that this car lived a charmed life and was well taken care of and cared for. Here is your chance to get into the vintage car hobby with a nice ready to enjoy turn-key car that won't break the bank. You could even use it as inexpensive and distinctive regular transportation as the 351 engine from these years had hardened valves from the factory and run well on regular unleaded gas. Fuel economy has been in the 15mpg to 19mpg range for me depending on whether mostly local or highway driving. Remember, un-restored "Survivor" cars are the up and coming desirable thing in the collector car hobby right now. Anyone with a fat check book can resurrect a derelict from the dead, but they are only original once! Don't miss this beauty! NOW FOR THE RULES: If you have questions or need clarification on anything, get answers BEFORE you bid. Please don't bid, then try to change them afterward. If you don't intend to abide by the rules, please look elsewhere. 1. Your bid is a contract! If you are the successful bidder, you are expected to pay! Please have all contingencies handled and your money in place BEFORE you bid! No retractions will be allowed, so be sure BEFORE you bid! 2. A NON-REFUNDABLE $1000 partial payment is due within 48 hours of auction's conclusion. This can be by bank wire transfer or cashiers check. Pay Pal is NOT acceptable for this. 3. Balance is due within 7 days of auction's close. This can be by bank wire transfer, cashiers check or cash in person. If you are paying balance upon pickup of car, it must be cash in person. 4. Car and paperwork will not leave here until paid in full with cleared funds. If you are paying with ANY kind of check, it must clear MY bank before car or title will be released. No exceptions! 5. Car is sold strictly as-is at my premises with no guarantee or warranty of any kind. 6. Transportation is the buyer's responsibility. I will try to reasonably help and accommodate you any way I can, but it is still YOUR responsibility. 7. If you cannot pick up car immediately, that is fine, it can be left here for a reasonable period. However, it still must be paid for within the 7 days, and you should secure insurance as I cannot be responsible for loss or damage due to circumstances beyond my control or act of God. 9. Car is advertised locally for sale. If I find a buyer through that venue, I reserve the right to end auction early. Please call me at 704-661-1326 Cell or 518-604-4050 (alternate number) with any further questions about this. Leave message if not in. IMPORTANT: PHONE CALLS ONLY. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO TEXT. 10. I will sell this car internationally, but MUST be paid for by international bank wire transfer ONLY! NO PAY PAL! NO EXCEPTIONS! 11. IMPORTANT: If you have been an Ebay member for under 1 year, and/or have less than 15 feedbacks and/or less than 95%, YOU MUST TALK TO ME BEFORE YOU BID! There have been too many instances of new and low feedback non-paying bidders. I realize new members can be excellent customers, but I need to talk to you first. Failure to do this will result in your bids being cancelled and blocked from my auction. I am sorry for all the rules, but it seems that 5% of difficult people spoil it for the 95% who are good. Thanks very much for looking! Please call me for more information at 704-661-1326 or 518-604-4050. Leave message if not in. NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE! ABOUT ME: I have been a collector and enthusiast of Postwar American cars for nearly 40 years! I maintain a "rotating collection" of 6 to 10 such vehicles. Sometimes I sell one out of the collection to make way for a new arrival. I favor un-restored original "Survivor" cars from the late 1950s to mid 1970s.
