Vehicle Detail
Here is a 1970 442 W-30 convertible tribute. Born as a Cutlass Supreme, it has been recreated to resemble the one of only 96 W-30 convertible 4-speed cars, built in 1970. Great attention to detail has been paid, in order to make it correct. The engine is a correct (396021F) 455ci., with Quadrajet 4bbl. carb, reproduction ram air (air) cleaner, W-455 aluminum intake manifold, and W-Z exhaust manifolds. It was completely rebuilt, and features (Keith Black) forged pistons, (Harland Sharp) full rocker rollers, (Engle) "20-22" camshaft with .496 intake/.512 exhaust lift, 2.07 intake/1.62 exhaust valves--which have the hardened valve seats, which allows it to run fine on 93 octane unleaded fuel. The distributor, is a standard unit, with the Pertronix kit installed, so there are no points to have to worry about. The compression ratio is 9.5:1. The transmission is a (M-20) Muncie wide-ratio 4-speed. It was also rebuilt, prior to installation. The shifter is an original Competition Plus. The rear end is the original 12 bolt O-axle, which was rebuilt with a limited slip unit and 3.42 (Richmond) gears. The drivetrain has approximately 3-4,000 miles on each member, since each rebuild has taken place. The body is painted black, and has a beautiful mirror like finish. The (power) convertible top is white (with the correct glass window), along with a new white top boot. And, W-30 stripes have been painted, in white. The interior is white vinyl, with bucket seats and a 4-speed console. Other interior amenities are the Rallye Gauge Package (clock has quartz movement, and keeps perfect time), and the optional Custom Sport steering wheel. Currently in the dash, is a Pioneer AM-FM/CD stereo. I do still have the original AM radio; and, I acquired another Control Panel dash section (with woodgrain and escutcheons already attached), which could be swapped in, if you prefer to have the original radio in the car. The rims are 15x7 Super Stock Chromes, with P245/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A's. The trunk has been restored, with the proper (GM) black and blue spatter paint, along with a (spare) rallye wheel, jack, and optional Oldsmobile rubber mat. I also have a complete set of weather stripping for the car (new in sealed packages). Other notable items, would be the 1970 specific sport mirrors, the W-35 rear spoiler, and the W-27 differential cover--which is unique, as the shape of the cover allows additional gear oil, and it being made of aluminum, dissipates heat quicker. Also, the red plastic inner fenders, which are specific to the W-30. This is an original air conditioning car. Although the compressor and condenser are not presently in the car, I do have them, if you wish to reinstall them. The front end parts have been replaced, with a performance kit from PST, by the previous owner. The windshield was replaced, when I bought the car. And, the battery and master cylinder have recently been replaced. I have only put approximately 6,000 miles on the car, in the time that I have owned it. It's a very sharp looking car, that has a commanding presence. It runs great, and smooth. It's fast, but not tempermental. It is an original California car, and as such, is a very solid car. I have owned it since 1997, and have all the records and receipts to the car, including the build sheet. It's kept in a heated, insulated garage; is not driven in inclement weather; and, has never been smoked in. It's a great car, that I've had many years of fun with. Unfortunately, family obligations mandate the sale. Please--no dealers, brokers, or other third parties. My wish is that it goes to a good home, where the next owner can enjoy it, as I have. I live approximately 30 minutes northeast of Buffalo. You are welcome to view the car in person, or call if you have any questions. (716)445-5543 [after 4pm EST, please]. A $1,000.00 Paypal deposit is required within 48 hours of auction end, with the balance to be paid within one week. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. The car is also being advertised locally; and, if sold as such, the auction will end at that time. Thank you for your interest, and good luck!
