Vehicle Detail
1973Cadillac Ambulance WOW ! This is an extremely rare vehicle built at the Miller-Meteor factory in Lima, Ohio. It was delivered new to Kit Carson County Ambulance Service in Burlington, Colorado. The service utilized this beautiful automobile as their main ambulance for transfers originating in the Burlington area to various hospitals in the greater Denver area. This ambulance provided dependable service from 1973-1981 at which time it was used as a trade-in on a new van ambulance. By the late 1970's, van ambulances were rapidly overtaking passenger-car ambulances in popularity as first response vehicles. This ambulance made a couple of different stops in it's storied life. After active service in Colorado, she was acquired by Professional Car Brokers in Sylmar, California. The company supplies professional vehicles to the southern California film industry. Professional Car Brokers used this ambulance from 1982-1996 for various movie/television rentals including " Jack the Bear" starring Danny DeVito and " Phantom of the Mall" starring Morgan Fairchild. This ambulance was purchased in May, 1996 by an avid collector and restored to it's original condition. Being top-of-the-line and the most expensive vehicle offered by Miller-Meteor in 1973, the owner recreated the ambulance back to the day it was delivered to Kit Carson County Ambulance Service. This vehicle features the powerful Cadillac 472 cubic inch commercial chassis engine, dual electric sirens, dual battery system, a dazzling array of those famous Federal rotating warning lights, new paint, dual gurney capability, deluxe stocked medical cabinets, oxygen outlets and cylinders, white wall radial tires, fender skirts, restored interior, center console and a complete mechanical overhaul. It is believed that this is one of only a few restored 52-inch high-top Miller-Meteor Lifeliner ambulances. The history of this vehicle was traced with the assistance of personnel from Kit Carson County Ambulance Services who actually drove the ambulance during it's 8 year service. This is a very rare and complete ambulance that is stunning to behold when all her lights/sirens are activated. Please see the attached video to view her light show.http://youtu.be/knp6I0mHugMFew of these vehicles survive today and even fewer become available to the public.
