1968 BMW 1600-2 Coupe 1.6L Four Cylinder Engine Manual transmission Rear Wheel Drive Odometer states: 51,352 We bought this car last fall as a project car and did quite a bit of work on it to get it running again, but now it’s time for us to move on. There’s a mileage log in the vehicle that states it hit 100,000 miles in 1977, with an additional 50,000 up to 1986, so we’re guessing a total of around 150,000 miles. We bought it in August and picked it up in Spokane. The car runs but with certain caveats which we’ll get to below. Car Status: New battery Carburetor rebuild kit added New thermostat New radiator hoses New fuel pump New window regulator on driver’s side New brake slave cylinder on left rear brake -Known issues The previous owner told us the car was kept in a barn for 14 years. Too much snow caused the barn to collapse, which pushed in the roof of the car. We popped out the roof but it’s not completely straight. Difficult to see in picture. CV boots need to be installed - new ones are included with the car. Driver’s side mirror is missing. Air cleaner mounting nuts are missing. Right rear brake light bulb burnt out Fuse #5 is missing - # 5 fuse carriage is broken. Windshield wipers work, but the switch has an issue, so they don't shut off. The mount for the handbrake is broken and needs to be re-welded. Turn signal actuator is broken and needs replacement. -Caveats The tires are old. They hold air pretty well but need to be replaced for regular driving.Brakes are working but need to be bled and adjusted.
