Vehicle Detail

This is a no reserve auction and has a VERY LOW minimum bid. The person who bids the highest for the car will be the new owner at the end of this auction. This car will be sold in 7 days from the day I'm writing this so don't wait too long to make your move. You are looking at a kinda rare 1968 Datsun 1600 Roadster. I'll do my best to describe the car but have a look at the pictures and the video; they speak to the condition of the car better than my words. I'll be happy to share more pictures if someone wants to see more. If you want specific ones, please ask. Part 1: The Outsidehttp://youtu.be/1Kftyw1Ye0A Part 2: The Power Planthttp://youtu.be/xKcaUyU2oW8 Part 3: The interiorhttp://youtu.be/RIjg3x42_Ew The Datsun has been restored but it was awhile ago. It has blemishes, waves in the body work and a few dings but no dents. The GoodThe tires are brand new, I just got them in May and drove the car less than 100 miles. They are pretty high quality Michelins but only 4. It needs a spare tire though I have the rim. I have a hardtop (needs weather stripping and the round side window are cracked and it needs a rear window -- it's in fair condition). The vinyl top is in almost new condition. She runs strong. Recent work includes fixing up the carbs and distributor, new spark plugs and replaced the head gasket and fuel filter. Chrome is all in nice condition. I have a few extra parts, some manuals and pictures of it from back in the day, whatever I have is yours. Jack and tools included as well. The BadThe restorative body work is aging and could use a "facelift". There is some wavy work and a tad bit of cracked bondo near the driver's side door handle. The paint wan't a high quality job and it has flaws. The car isn't going to win any concours auto shows but it is still pretty nice. There was what I thought was a small oil leak under the engine. It was just leaving small spots on the ground. However, I don't see it anymore, so I'm just not sure what it was. It does not appear major, but you have to decide for yourself. There is some kind of hesitation at high speeds. It feels like it's not getting enough fuel, that's the best way I can describe it. It does not happen consistently and has never left me stranded on the side of the road. Windshield has a chip and a small spider crack (see pictures). Driver's side door is a little 'tight' and needs a little adjustment to close more smoothly. It's needs a spare tire. The AM radio worked, but suddenly doesn't seem to work. The fuel and temperature gauges do not work. I got this car in November 2013 and it was in rough running condition. A mechanic friend of mine went through the car and got her purring like a kitten. The prior owners are personal friends of mine. My understanding from them is that they got the early 90's and restored it slowly throughout the years. I don't know her birthplace, but she lived a long time in a barn in WA state before coming to AZ. The car can be seen in Phoenix, AZ from July 12th - 17th, after which I expect it to be sold. I am only taking bids through eBay for the length of this listing. This is an "as is" sale. Please ask your questions up front and not after the sale. I don't really want to sell the car, but I need the space for an incoming project. I will do my best to assist with the logistics of shipping (at your expense) and the car can ONLY stay here until 8/3 (unless there is mutual prior agreement). It must be picked up by 8/3/2014!! The auction requires a down payment of $500 due within 48 hours of end of auction (PayPal is fine) and the balance due (in cash unless otherwise agreed upon) upon pickup or by 8/3, whichever is earlier. Failure to meet this term without prior written (email) agreement will result in forfeiture of deposit. The title will be signed and notarized per AZ law and ready to go upon full payment. On Jul-12-14 at 11:17:08 PDT, seller added the following information: Slight correction.... replaced the head gasket === should have been replaced the valve cover gasket... SORRY about that.
