Vehicle Detail
1972 Triumph TR6 2495cc 6 cyl 59560 miles RELISTED WITH A LOWER RESERVE!! We are a low volume dealer with a specialty in European Classics offering an original owner 1972 Triumph TR 6. The car has been uprated for Autocross and or track days and can still be a daily driver. Some modifications include a smaller steering wheel, Adco rear sway bar, lowered springs, roll bar and lighter fiberglass fenders. The Engine has a rebuild that included a compression bump to 9.5 to 1, engine balanced and bored 30 over and bored to accept cam bearings for the British Leyland S2 hot street cam, aluminum push rods, dual valve springs w aluminum retainers and converted to SU carbs for more tuning choices and variety of needles. 6 into 1 exhaust header with free flow single pipe to free flow muffler (not too loud). The engine is original except for the mentioned work and the head was replaced under factory warranty. Rebuilds recently this year include New Brakes, New Brake Master Cylinder, New Clutch Master and Clutch Slave, all with Silicone DOT 5 fluid. New Nylon Differential mounts. The Su's were rebuilt and the linkage and throttle pedal shaft bushes tightened up and or replaced. A working choke has been fitted and adjusted. Recent tune up. Condition: there is no rust and the car was repainted over 20 years ago although the paint is showing some age. No accidents and the frame is in great shape as are the floor boards, rocker panels and rear deck. The engine does not leak and yes there is oil in it! Compression is strong and even and oil pressure is very good when hot. The car is very quick compared to a stock TR 6 yet still cruises comfortably around town. Included are original Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and stock intake and exhaust manifolds and wipers. Ted Schumacher of TR 8 racing fame commissioned the engine shop Hart's Machine Service in Cecil, Ohio. Hart's said they remember the rebuild but no paperwork. It feels as claimed. The gearbox and rear end are original. The rear end has had some extra support added to the frame and the transmission clutch fork shaft has had some grease fittings added for reducing the wear at that spot. The clutch feels heavy duty and engages quicker than a stock one and is not slipping, but I have not seen it. The starter was just rebuilt and reused the Lucas casing. The engine really revs to redline quickly because of the higher compression, S2 cam, Su carbs, 6 into 1 exhaust headers and electric cooling fan eliminating the stock crank driven fan. She really turns in quick with the springs and rear sway bar giving it some forward rake. The original owner built a house and started a family just after he had the engine work done in the early 1990's. He said that was about it for driving the Triumph at that time so it has been on jack stands most of the past 20 years and the last registration for plates was 13 years ago. There is likely only a couple of thousand miles on the rebuild. I have been driving it this summer and it really goes Good luck bidding and please ask any questions. This car is sold with no warranty and "as is". We encourage inspections. The car is located in the 60130 zip code. The successful bidder has 48 hours to put a $500 deposit through PayPal. Bank transfer or cash for the balance before delivery or pick up. We can assist you in arranging delivery. As we are a dealer in Illinois we will collect tax for Illinois residents and other state residents will have to check with their DOR or DMV.
