Beware of eBayer jtrapman2011 !! This Chevette is being sold for its elderly original owner, who has put a gentle 72,000 miles on it over thirty five years of ownership. It has been maintained carefully until parked and protected under a car cover the past two years. It starts easily and runs smoothly, especially for having two year old gas in the tank. Probably the tank should be emptied and flushed for ideal performance. Does not smoke and has no valve or lower engine noise so I believe the engine is sound internally. I have put it in drive and reverse to go back and forth in its driveway and all seems fine, but the owner does not want it driven on the street since it’s no longer insured.You should assume that despite the low mileage and excellent cosmetic appearance this car will need some going over in terms of tuneup, brakes, oil change, etc. Ultimately it makes a very nice collector car and I see no reason to believe it can’t also be a driven on a regular basis. Would make an excellent second family car, or a young driver’s first car.The car was repainted professionally two years ago and still looks great. There is very little body repair and it passes the magnet test well, indicating it was never rusted out to any significant extent. The interior is near mint condition, aside from minor fading and small defects in some of the plastic parts, one very small seam separation (about 3-4” long) on the driver’s seat, and the front carpets are heavily worn, almost all on the driver’s side.Brand new battery, plenty of tread on the tires.
