Vehicle Detail
Here's your chance to own a classic Mercedes! This is a 1985 California model, the last year of the W123 series. It has been (and still is) a daily driver for the past 5 years. 222k miles, which is low for its age. A/C works. It has an inline 5-cylinder turbo diesel engine and 4-speed automatic transmission. Stuff that's been done: Transmission rebuilt (2007 - previous owner) New battery and starter Recent alternator A/C overhaul including new compressor and R-12 recharge (2010-ish) Recent brake work including calipers Lots of other stuff (I have my receipts plus some from the previous owner) Tires are pretty good Paint is pretty good except trunk lid area. The front grill has some rust. Interior is pretty good minus a couple of trim pieces. I put in an Alpine IDA-X305 AM/FM/digital music radio which can play MP3/AAC files off of a USB drive or some models of iPod. However I will give you the original radio also. All of the speakers, wiring, and connectors are original and undamaged, I took great care with that. Stuff that needs to be done: Oil return seal needs to be replaced before it goes bad and starts leaking. This is a small repair which I would have already done but didn't know about it until the car was ready for pickup from the shop that day. There is play in the steering, it will probably need a rebuilt steering gear box and other parts. This is a medium-sized repair. I got used it and drove it anyway, but it should probably be fixed. As I mentioned before, we are still driving it on a daily basis. The sunroof doesn't work; it stopped in 2012. I didn't put much effort into trying to fix it. The radio antenna is stuck in its normal 1/4 up position, which is adequate for radio reception. There's some other nitpicks. It's 30 years old. The reason for selling is we are going to be moving and need a different car for a different commuting use case. Car is sold as-is, where is (Miami) with no guarantees of any kind. The buyer needs to pick it up within a week of auction end, cash only. You will have to provide a tag in order to drive it away.
